Well, firstly, its a GTS in Chicago and not a diesel in the UK
All I can add from a purely personal point of view is that if a customer vehicle came into my dealership under warranty and
I could find a (genuine) fault covered under warranty, that the manufacturers would pay for, and I could delight the customer by doing so, I would jump at the chance!

Indeed in my Ford days warranty work was at guaranteed hourly rates and part costs. We could deduct the full cost from the purchase/adoption price of the next new car we sold. Only hassle was if a Ford engineer needed to sign off on the work.

Apologies if my YouTube link has made this chat go off topic, but I thought I post it to reflect the Macan has suffered an oil leak. Maybe this will become more common like transfer box failure in due course. Just make sure it's spotted during the warranty period or get extended warranty to be safe. Sad to see this happening on brand new cars...
Hi Arjan (Dutch by any chance ?) - Thanks for sharing the video. My question is whether the OPC in Chicago (or wherever in the world) has even seen the car on a ramp since it was driven off the premises? If the tyre swap took place at the independent it's easy for them to post this.
With 5k miles on the clock I am reasonably confident that the PC has never had the car back. Maybe naive to trust the dealer but I believe the centre is incentivised to be on top of this and get a good (warranty) deal for its customers to be in with a chance of repeat biz.

Hi Boys,
Reporting back as requested. Just got the car back. The OPC were very helpful. It was an engine and gearbox out job. Took 2 weeks , mainly waiting for parts. The symptoms were ; no oil usage for the first 12k then a steady small usage of about half the gap between full and refill over the next 5k.
Glad it was under warranty and that a very sharp mechanic picked it up on the service (he has had an alcoholic reward).
Well worth a look if you have those symptoms.

Great news! Glad that you got it sorted within warranty!

Thanks for posting. Where in the country are? Might be worth knowing if you have a good independent garage.Liftsagift wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2018 9:31 amHi Boys,

Doesn't reflect my Ford experience, the dealer made it clear i had no chance with the six year no quibble anti corrosion warranty unless i went to court.
Instead of dragging it through the courts we boycotted Ford which cost them a rather large multiple of the £1500 max claim.
Later heard they had a run of problems with D reg Escorts.
