Understand the phone side but I don’t understand how you make the car connect to your phone’s WiFi instead of the inbuilt Porsche wifi?
Thanks

Try this, weemsy6147:

http://www.porscheownersmanuals.com/201 ... ection-PCM

Or in the left bottom corner touch the sim card / LTE symbol and a connection manager screen opens. Then choose data connection and follow the on screen prompts.

- BMW 240i xDrive (G42) - Portimao Blue - AC Schnitzer tune

Really still struggling with this. See the post and looked at the manual link but both options of use external data connection or connect to a WiFi hotspot are greyed out in my car.

Same with data connections being greyed out?

Any thoughts please?

Have you enabled your cars WiFi first? I’m pretty sure I had to do this in one of the settings.

Weemsy6147, that is a mystery!

So you can use the car's PCM Apps via the car's sim card, but you cannot connect your car to your phone's hot spot?

Correct, a mystery for sure! And the Porsche centre don’t seem hot on this technology!

Try the following

Whilst in the car and engine running
Open the Porsche connect app on the iPhone. Select my account on the app at the bottom right. Make sure you are logged in using your account.
Click on pcm services and then display. It will show you the status at this point to see what is or is not connecting. Make sure connection to pcm is on at the top.

Click on connection instructions and it will show you some info on setup which may help.

I assume you have the latest app from the AppStore and it’s all upto date? Latest one released a month or so ago V 3.01.

Weemsy6147, is your car / PCM paired up with the Porsche Connect Services?
You need a pairing code (an 8 digit number) which you would have been given when registering for the Porsche Connect Services on the website:

Weemsy,

I'm a bit confused. Not really sure what you have got working and what you would like to get working.

Is it true that your car has a built in SIM, recent cars do and older ones don't? Don't know when the changes happened.

If you haven't inserted a SIM in the car or connected the car to your phone's hotspot (not connected your phone to the car's hotspot which is different) and can use RTTI / Google then you have built in SIM.

If you have a built in SIM in order to use the car's hotspot to, e.g. connect a phone and stream music, video etc., then you must either buy a data package from Porsche so the built in SIM supports the streaming or install your own sim in the card to support the streaming.
