Maybe Porsche have been pushed into something more than they’d like to do at this time in the Macan’s life based on the recently revised Q5 and good reports on the Stelvio and the Volvo XC60.
Sounds like the OPC is talking total bo***cks.

Facelifts and new models are designed and specified years in advance so there is no way that significant design changes are introduced in response to some knee jerk reaction to what other manufacturers might be doing.

It's a bit early (4 years) for a platform change, although the basic underpinnings of the Q5 do go back to 2009 and as we know by the new Q5, the Macan is a bit behind the curve?

Maybe Porsche will leapfrog the Macan to bring it up to speed with Audi?

Can't imagine it's a new model after only 4 years, it will have some external tweaks, new interior (not sure how much) and new engines (those in the Pana).

Tend to agree with Arif and Nick - I can't see the facelift being a radical change and I am even sceptical about the touch button thingy from the Panamera coming although not impossible. A few minor changes to exterior, some slightly upgraded tech, a few new standard features, new engine options and a price hike is what I would expect.

Exactly the design and engineering teams will have a schedule booked out years in advance. Putting a new platform into production is a massive change to a production line, that alone could be a year in the planning.

And the Macan is still selling well. "If it ain't broken, why fix it".

It will be interesting to see what they do engine spec wise with this mid-term face lift.

Porsche did the change from NA to turbo in the 911 mid model face lift so wouldn't be surprised if the big change to the Macan on facelift would be to the engines, i.e. the new Audi 2.9 engine.

New petrol engines will be a high probability for the facelift.

Whilst I am sure the facelift will be good for some it may not light up everyone’s world. I rejected my MY17 Range Rover Sport in July last year and was given the option of an early MY18 when it was launched, I took a look at the new model but was very underwhelmed, I felt Kand Rover had cheapened the car both inside and out and put the price up, also touch screens just equal sticky fingerprints, I declined the slot and ordered the Macan GTS, no regrets ...........so far
