Afternoon folks,

can anyone please explain the differences between the 8 way sport seats and the 18 way adaptive sport seats , apart from the obvious, that one has eight positions and the other has 18 positions? Are the 18 way seats part of of package that includes other stuff?

Cheers.

The shape of the seats are different, the 18 has much higher side bolster support to hold you in versus 8 and 14 way. This translates to the back as well in terms of how flat you can get the load area.

Ah okay thanks. I don't know why I thought they were part of package which includes other stuff. If it's just the seat movement then that's fine.

Probably because the memory function for the seats comes as part of a package and if you specify a type of seat that isn't compatible i.e. standard seats, it will mandate a change to 14 or 18 way.

The option of 18 way adaptive sports seats includes full leather seats as opposed the micro fibre inserts for the base and S models as well as the memory function for both front seats. You also get the electric adjustable steering column all thrown in

I think it is a good value option all told

Yes it does seem a desirable option. Thanks.

If it’s a GTS the standard 8 way sports seats look exactly the same as the 18way sports seats without as many adjustments including lumber support,I had the 18 way sports seats in my first Macan and most of the adjustments were kept in the neutral position,on our GTS I have the standard 8 way sports seats and find them to be really good.

I would recommend always going for a seat with many adjustments.

All it takes is one tweak, one pulled muscle and you will be glad of the available adjustments.

I have adjusted my 14 way to get a comfortable position, and they have stayed that way for the last 18 months, I would definately not have been comfortable in 8 way GTS.

Do note that the side and rear bolsters do result in a very snug fit.

Whatever you choose do try to have a long test drive of a Macan with the same seating, suspension and wheel size as you intent to specify.

Having had the sports seats and the comfort seats on a Cayenne, I would recommend the comfort seats for that model as they are more suited to the vehicle itself.

However, I have the sports seats in my Macan and they are very good. The main benefit is the adjustable lumbar support and the extendable seat support, which is excellent if you have long legs and need that hamstring support, as I do.
So when is this ‘old enough to know better’ supposed to kick in ?
