This is not just an issue with Porsche/Audi mentioned so far. I have found the same with BMW's built in nav. Now my practice when in the West Country is to in advance decide the nearest main rd junction to my ultimate location and then choose a collection of main road waypoints to get me there I then enter in the sat nav. I think I once had a TomTom device that let you choose a main roads only route but recently I have not seen any modern system with a similar option/

I did have a Tom Tom that took me down a narrow country lane with a ford in the stream, only to find it was not a stream but a raging torrent.

I only once was stupid enough to blindly follow satnav instructions into an obviously ridiculous route.

Wasn't dangerous; it just got stuck in a 3km loop around a German village. I went round almost 3 times before realising. At least it was a nice village.

Having a Fucking Clue™ is the best way :)
Used to have 2016 Macan Turbo PHCKCL70
Previously a 2014 Macan Turbo.

Or a map on a passenger's lap, if there is a passenger. :D

When we share driving with my other half, the passenger is not allowed to sleep but must constantly monitor PCM SatNav and compare it to the Google navigation in their phone to verify any sudden changes in routes that the lady in the PCM announces.

Although PCM, google and the “ proper” route (ie, the one I had pre-thought out on paper the night before😳) never seem to agree with one another😂

My first Sat Nav, AKA my Wife was map reader and Navigator.

Favourite phrase ...... we should have taken the turning on the right 5 miles back.
