Looks great Arif! Couldn’t agree more on what’s better than a Porsche......!

So when you say it’s rained, it looks like you had two local showers, one over each car!

981 is an awesome car in any iteration and a brilliant daily too being massively practical. If i could have justified keeping my 981 when I bought my Macan I wouldn’t be in a 911 now. Great choice, Arif 👍

Thanks chaps

The BMW i3 went back as it came to the end of it's lease and so had to hand the Golf R to the other half. Decided it was time to experience a Cayman and found one with low miles 12k and one of the last ones 16 plate before they made the switch to the 718. I test drove a 718 and it was a more modern car with updated tech and felt quicker than the 981 but it was the engine that made my mind up. Once I'd been in the 981 with PSE it was no contest - the 2.7 engine needs to be worked through the revs which brings with it its own enjoyment and revving to 7000rpm the engine sounds awesome.

Whilst I had the two cars out, I appeared to get more complimentary comments about the 981 from the non-porsche enthusiasts as most people commented that it would be something they would consider buying. The comments regarding the GT3 were more akin to - that looks scary and I'd be afraid of driving it!

Obviously the two cars can't really be compared. The GT3 is still the best track focused road car you can buy and it makes me smile every time I drive it, which is only at the weekends by the way. Now I can enjoy a Porsche during the week!

Out of interest, how does the GT3 compare to the C4GTS that you had? Can you tell the difference on a public road? Or are they both amazing?!

Ian, both cars pretty amazing. However, after driving a GT3 you pretty much realise that all other Porsches are a sanitised experience. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way as all Porsches are amazing drivers cars but the GT3 is a proper road going race car - firm, connected and raw. The steering is so accurate and direct, the noise something else, you hear every noise from the engine e.g. fluids moving around, gears changing - no sound deadening, the performance from a NA engine being different to the turbo charged engines.

The GT3 is an entirely different proposition to the C4GTS and once you've driven a GT3 you'll appreciate what I'm talking about.

My Cayman 981 2.7 feels like a Mercedes S class in comparison.
