Followed a new Macan S last night between Tenbury and Droitwich (hello if you're on here), black I think?
Have to admit I didn't know that the bar across the boot actually lit up, but it was a bit like following the Millennium Falcon - initial thought was 'I don't like that', almost like the brake lights are jammed on, but I'm sure I'd get used to it?
Rear Light Bar
I followed a white one the other day for a bit. Not very pretty, but seems to be the new trend these days.
If Porsche offered the light strip as an option (or non-light strip as an option) I'd certainly choose not to have one.

For the sake of balance in this discussion - I like it.
Breaks up the large blank swathe across the rear door.
Over the next 12 months as more Mk2s hit the road, it will make the Mk1 look increasingly dated IMO.

Could be, but the Cayenne has been out for a while and it's looking increasingly Korean :/
I really think Porsche will drop the light bar thing from the next major styling round, much like those awful headlights on the 996.

I don't mind it in the daylight shots, my input was related to the nighttime situation - there's a lot of light going on, which, as you approach looks very odd, space age, Tron, sci-fi, whatever. That's what I'm not keen on (at the moment).

For what it’s worth, I like it too (though biased as I have a deposit in a mk2). Different strokes and all that.
The original rear lights look a bit too ‘hot hatchy’ for my liking where as the light bar gives a greater impression of width to the car. Reckon you’ll see more and more examples on other marques soon.

My teachers always said I would amount to nothing.
...Thus far I've been unable to prove them wrong.

Absolutely. You've been able to buy aftermarket strips for years. This will make it very popular.
