Can anyone confirm whether the external glass is treated with a hydrophobic coating? Opinions vary and if they do have it it would not be recommended to add when being detailed.

I had it as part of the detail. TBH whilst it worked fine at speed but it was a pain at low speed with the wipers screaming in pain. I was glad when it wore off.

I tend to detail my cars myself and the stuff I use is Gtechniq G1 clearvision, it's about an hours worth of work but the results are excellent in my experience. I also coat the wiper blade so that you don't get the wipers screaming and that works pretty well.

Not absolutely sure on this but I think the sides and rear are, but not the front screen. I'd advise not putting anything on the screen. Keeping it clean and the wipers in good condition is enough for good vision in the rain.

+1

Don’t touch the windscreen.....clean screen and efficient wipers are more than sufficient.

Gtechniq G1 - instructions recommend putting 3 coats on front windscreen and 1coat on all other glass. It works really well and almost don't need to use wipers, I put it on all my cars.
