While having the satNav updated on my SD to the 2019 version today, I took advantage of a Mk2 3.0S test drive. My observations:
# New petrol engine very strong with good torque and a decent engine note when extended. Similar in performance to the GTS Mk1.
# Steering and turn in has a modest improvement in that response is slightly quicker and weight a tad lighter. This makes the Mk2 slightly more nimble without losing any feel or stability.
# The Sport dial on the steering wheel is much more accessible than the Sport button on the wrong side of the Mk1's switches bank
# The SatNav graphics are clearer, but it has no more depth - just far greater width. So in actual monitoring of the upcoming road the Mk2 is actually no better than the Mk1's screen
# I like the Mk2's rear light bar and that it's available in red or smoke grey options.
Otherwise not a huge difference. Well only I got 21mpg on the S petrol Mk2 vs 38mpg on my SD over the same test route.
Overall, enough to temp me to change - not sure. Best guesstimate for the GTS availability by the SE was spring 2020 and probably with 400 bhp and circa £60k base price on the road. Now that could tempt me!
Foot note: the demand for SDs is getting stronger and this OPC is actively buying them.
Macan 1 vs Macan 2
I doubt the new GTS will arrive with 400 bhp - far more likely c 375-380. Porsche are known for small incremental boosts in power rather than releasing the full potential of their engines (not that 400 bhp is anywhere near the full potential)

With the new S at 360 and the new 2.9 Turbo at 440 I’d also guess (hope) for 400....

Paul I'm going for 380 - let's see what they coe up with. Old GTS was 360 iirc and old S was c 340 so if new S is 360 then 380 would be bang on the money

I live in hope of winning £100m on the lottery but it isn't going to happen (apparently you need to buy a ticket unlike the scam emails one receives). I'm sorry to say that I think 400bhp on the New GTS is about as likely!

If you intend to keep it for ever and preserve it as an exhibit for the next generation living in EV world then definitely Gen 1. I actually pref gen 1 styling.
If you gonna flip it after few years, then you will hopefully enjoy new features and lose less money on the Gen 2.
