As some of you may recall the current GTS was an impulse purchase after popping in to let the OPC look at the corroded exhaust tips on the previous car (and one I'm very still very happy with). Well this time I went in on Saturday to enquire about getting some winter wheels and tyres for the Macan as I don't like the summers it came with and we got talking about the 718-6 which we were expecting to be announced in November and will hopefully be getting sometime next year..

During this they asked me if I'd be interested in taking on a standard 718 Boxster in the interim as they have a few coming through before the end of December and were prepared to do a very special deal if I was. In short they came back to me today with some available cars and an offer that really was too good to refuse so I've bought one.

Its not quite the spec I would have chosen but too late to change as its being built now and is expected to exit the factory on Friday. The one I've got is in Gentian Blue with full black leather and 20" Carrera Classics. As for the noise out of the back end its not a flat six howl but it'll be better than the diesel SLK it'll be replacing and we've always got the Cayman if we need some proper noise therapy. Should be collecting before Christmas so will post pics when it's here.

Oh, and my wife has told me I'm not allowed to pop Into the OPC anymore on my own as I can't be trusted to just focus on the reason I went there for :-)

:D :D My wife would have told me a lot more than that if I'd turned up with another car!!

Congrats on the new addition. Sounds a fantastic deal (or is that what you sold the missus) :D

Sounds good (no pun intended [emoji16]). And the Boxster will also be a much superior driving pleasure to the SLK, you’ll love it!

Did you get the winters for the Macan too? [emoji6]

Recently got my winter wheels/tyres fitted... ...and fell in love with a Racing Yellow 991.2 GT3... :P

Congrats on the Boxster- should look fab in Gentian Blue. Hopefully won’t be too painful on the wallet when you swap that for a 6-pot 718! ;)

Your wife sounds a bit like mine.

When I collected the Cayenne I told the guy that my wife had a special message for him ... “Goodbye and I hope that we don’t see you for a very long time !” He did laugh.
So when is this ‘old enough to know better’ supposed to kick in ?

I think most wives are wary when we pop into the OPC. With good reason I might add!
