Yeah that’s the main issue with the change, not many places have the PIWIS to do the job. To remove one of the bolts on the caliper, a special torx socket is required. I purchased a set of these, which included the one for the job, from Machine Mart. The cost was about £20 for four, 12, 14, 16 18mm. If I remember it's the 14mm thats needed. This is in advance, when mine need replacing.

Note that the 'Porsche' original brakes are actually Brembo (at least they are on my Turbo) and you should see the name and logo stamped on the disc and calliper.

With reference to my last message, regarding the torx socket. I've had a look in my garage, and realised that they are torx bolts, which are needed to remove the bolts from the caliper. In engineering terms, they are male.

I had pads done on our SD at 60k. We are mostly motorway miles so understandable. The garage advised rears need doing at the same time as the weight of these cars means that they brake as much on the rears as they do on the front. I got away with discs - just about. There is a groove cut into the disc to indicate the wear limit; ours was borderline. I'd imagine you will be needing rears at the same time. Don't forget new wear sensors which, from memory, were about £35 on each caliper.

I have exactly same vehicle as you.
No special tools required - my local tyres guys did it for cash - did the brake fluid change at same time - £40 if i remember for that.
I gave chassis number to local factor and told him wanted OEM parts - £180 for rotors front and back ( Danish Brand MK - with guarantee )
Ferodo Pads front and back for £119.38 inc wear cables from Brakes International in Rochdale ( inc shipping )
Two guys were at it for 2.5 hrs if i remember
Wound off the rears manually - all calibrated ok after change - plugged into laptop and updated parameters
All good - safe and save a fortune..

I'm getting a vibration under braking which feels like a warped disc so I'm just about to order front discs (Brembo) and pads (Texstar OEM by Porsche) from Autodoc. - Total £200.95 inc delivery. We really are being screwed over by OPC and it's an easy fit. Will need new caliper bolts as they are single use stretch bolts and would usually fit new wear sensors but the old ones are OK. It is incredible how they can charge close to a grand.
