MOT's to be suspended for [up to] 6 months
The government today have announced that all cars and motorcycles due their MOT on March 30th 2020 or after have now got an additional six months to be tested. This takes an enormous strain off the motor industry. For more information on these temporary changes to the law please see https://www.gov.uk/…/coronavirus-covid- ... r-cars-van…

My MOT and initial 3 year warranty are due/expire on July 1. My plan was to take out an extended 2 year Porsche warranty and as required, get the 111 point check and MOT all done at the same. Does anyone know if the MOT is a requirement for getting the extended warranty?

It isn’t. You can take out the extended warranty before the three years is up.DandyDon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:07 pm My MOT and initial 3 year warranty are due/expire on July 1. No it isn’t. Given the Cambridge OPC has closed for coved I would book my vehicle in with your OPC, within the qualifying period, and then it is for them to cancel. Leaving a record in their system that you’ve tried to comply.DandyDon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 1:07 pm My MOT and initial 3 year warranty are due/expire on July 1. my MoT is due april 15th + the 5th year 111 point check. had it all booked in for April 2nd. Porsche cancelled and have rebook for May 12th. not sure that will happen now.
either way , I booked it in on time, Porsche cancelled , so I will assume I am all good

Quick question for anyone with an MOT due soon: Has anyone seen a change to their MOT run out date when they check online here: https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/?locale=en
My motorbike is due an MOT on 7 May, but when I check online it has not yet been extended by the promised 6 months.

It won’t click forwards until the actual date...ie you need to check on the 7th of May (ish)

Just to follow up on this for other people's info. It's now 7 days until my motorbike's MOT was due to expire on 7 May.
If I check here https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ then it still says MOT due 7 May 20.
But if I check here https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history then it says MOT valid until 7 Nov 20.
Given that the tax runs out at midnight tonight, I was about to SORN the bike anyway, but didn't want to to so until I had seen the MOT extension, just in case they didn't give the extension to SORNed vehicles.
