On-Track wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2020 3:52 pm Looking at the GTS Technical Data sheet on the configurator today, it now shows the emissions value as 255 g/km. If that becomes the accepted value then first year car tax will be £1850. Let's hope so as that is better than £2175.
Whats more interesting is that when you load your config or add extras, like bigger wheels etc the CO2 figure changes from the base - tried adding things to an S and got it to 257, My GTS config goes to 258, so its a dynamic figure based on selections.

From the Goverment site the new rates for 2020 >255 (GTS) is £2135: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables
Yes, you're right. When I loaded my Porsche Code then opened the Technical Spec the CO2 emissions were 257.

My technology limitations show up here but if you do a search for "V149 vehicle rates of tax from April 2020" you'll find the new maximum of £2175. Mind you with all the other increases what's an additional £40 between friends ;) .

Here's the article I was referring to.

But it did not happen for this new tax year. The 2.9 GTS goes up by £25 for the initial 1st yr fee from £1280 to £1305 according to the Gov, tax table and Porsche has confirmed.

I hope you're right. We'll find out one way or another when someone actually manages to register a GTS from today onwards.

Yes, the Autocar article lists the tax rates, identical to those listed on form V149. The crunch question is what emission value shows on your vehicle's Certificate of Conformance. Until the end of March the NEDC equivalent value was used. For any car registered on or after 1 April 2020, it is the WLTP value that applies.

I read what you (SAC1) have been told by Porsche but at the end of the day, it's HMRC not a vehicle manufacturer has the last word. You and Paul have cars that were manufactured before 1 April but will be registered after that date. It remains to be seen which rules apply. Whenever my GTS is built (and given the current situation, who knows when that will be), I've resigned myself to paying £2175. If it turns out to be £1305 that will be a welcome surprise.

Porsche updated its website yesterday from the NEDC-equivalent values to the new WLTP values.

Here's what they state:

- 227 to 249 - Macan base
- 251 to 269 - Macan S
- 255 to 268 - Macan GTS
- 260 to 273 - Macan Turbo

These first year rates therefore apply to all Macans:

- 226 to 255 = £1,850
- over 255 = £2,175

Therefore:

- Macan base = £1,850
- Macan S = £1,850 or £2,175
- Macan GTS = £1,850 or £2,175
- Macan Turbo = £2,175

The tax for Macan S and GTS therefore depends on what options we specify. For Macan base and Turbo, our options will have no impact on tax.

I doubt there will be many GTS cars with 255 emissions, and attracting the lower rate of tax. Adding a sunroof adds 1g/km. Even adding Bose adds another 1g/km. Just one of these is enough to pop it into the highest band.
