Taycan
Saw a few at Porsche Guildford today, really nice looking and really fancy one.
June 2017 Macan GTS in Carmine red with 21” gloss black sport classics, GTS leather package, Air, PASM, PDLS+, pano roof, Sports Chrono, 18 way seats, BOSE, surround view, heated seats front and rear, carbon side blades and carbon interior package.
Power delivery was instantaneous & the one thing that blows your mind. A whole new concept of driving for me.
Steering was very sharp & actually felt quicker than my 911. The car did feel heavy though & I felt what I thought was body roll in the switch back corners. I’m not sure if the model I was driving was wearing PDCC, but I would option this to try to reduce the roll. If you don’t drive as enthusiastically as me then maybe save your money.
The whole OPC experience is surreal at present. I needed a utility bill, my V5 log book & the usual driving licence to take the test. This is despite me knowing the SA for a number of years & buying three cars from him already. I was not allowed in the showroom as they were at capacity when I arrived and that was despite me having an appointment. I was told to wait in the car park or go & wait in my car. I was lucky it wasn’t raining & thought they could have handled this aspect better. There can’t have been more than 10 people within the centre when I was denied access & that included staff.
You are told to hand sanitise on arrival & you are separated from the SA by an acrylic screen & you have a little window to pass things under. The cars are all sterile with tamper seals attached & you are asked not to touch the vehicles in the showroom. The test drive comprises of you being briefly advised on what to do in the car (Taycan way different to a normal car) & then instructed to follow the SA on a pre-determined route.
Upshot is I have put my deposit down on a Turbo S. Wait list Is approximately 10-12 months & that’s at the Newcastle OPC. Porsche have only recently returned to work & I was told the booking system hasn’t been properly updated yet so the lead-times were subject to change.
I am in no hurry. I’ve still got my Litchfield tuned 616hp 911 GTS to enjoy in the interim.
Stay safe everyone.

Test drove a 4S on friday afternoon, incredible. In a nutshell you have supercar performance in a comfortable luxurious environment. I was mighty impressed and as such will be placing an order this week. My only issue now is which colour, I am torn between black and volcano grey with all black mission E wheels and red leather ?
