Hi All
Been working away for a while and car has sat unused for the past 7 weeks maybe. Car was cleaned and had no issues when i left it.
Arrived back into the UK yesterday and thought i would give the car a run and top up the tank...
A quick checkover and I can't say i 'noticed' more like it is jumps up at you but what the hell is going on with the headlights

It looks to me like a sudden temperature change has caused crazing inside, as if it's a laminated lens that's got really hot then had cold water poured over it.
I must admit, I've never seen anything like that previously. My LED lights fog inside the lens in winter but i've put that down to the LEDS not providing enough heat to burn off condensation.

The car has been sat on my drive where it has for the last 4 years and subject to the UK weather so nothing has changed and I can guarantee that my wash techniques are somewhat OCD so Hot & Cold water would NOT happen

Seems to be a common problem on 718s and many have been fixed under warranty.

I’m taking the 991 in for completion of its service & a recall tomorrow and SWMBO will pick me up in the Macan so will bring this to their attention and see what happens.

Apparently Porsche class this as a ‘visual defect’ and thus it’s not covered under the extended warranty but only under the manufactures warranty i.e the first 3 years.
Quite frankly I find it amazing that they think this is acceptable!!
You can spend £10k on a mini or the like and not have this but spend £50k plus on a Porsche and they seem to make up all manner of excuses to avoid admitting they have cheap manufacturing processes which will result in these ‘visual defects’

My 2015 Macan DS
As a point of note it has Full OPC service history, Extended Warranty, only 25k on the clock, regularly washed & waxed with care.
I purchased it when it was about 6 months old and 9k miles
In my near 4 year ownership due to mechanical defects it’s had
New PDK Box
New steering unit
New panoramic roof cassette
New ACC Camera

That's the second lot of tosh I've heard from an OPC on these boards today. I think I'd be onto Porsche GB. And I'd be asking said dealer to show you where in the warranty documentation it says this type of defect is specifically excluded.r1flyguy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 8:44 am Apparently Porsche class this as a ‘visual defect’ and thus it’s not covered under the extended warranty but only under the manufactures warranty i.e the first 3 years.
