Thanks, I assumed there would be airbags. To be honest, I am surprised anything safety related is left to be an "option".

My current code is: http://www.porsche-code.com/PM2RI986

This has Bose, SC, Volcano, 21" Turbo but is a little more expensive than I would like (I forgot that the price the put up is not the OTR price, so you need to add £2k+ to it!)
  • Exterior Colour Volcano Grey Metallic £ 674.00
  • Sideblades painted in exterior colour £ 0.00
  • SportDesign exterior mirrors painted in exterior colour Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur £ 329.00
  • Privacy glass £ 333.00
  • 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels £ 977.00
  • GTS Sports seats front (8-way, electric) £ 0.00
  • Driver memory package £ 228.00
  • Interior Colour Leather interior in Black, smooth-finish leather £ 1,154.00
  • Exterior Panoramic roof system £ 1,137.00
  • Adaptive air suspension with levelling system and height adjustment incl. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) £ 1,044.00
  • Sport Chrono Package incl. mode switch £ 804.00
  • 75-litre fuel tank £ 84.00
  • Power Steering Plus £ 185.00
  • ParkAssist (front and rear) including reversing camera and Surround View £ 884.00
  • Side airbags in the rear £ 261.00
  • Smoking package £ 38.00
  • Carbon interior package £ 597.00
  • BOSE® Surround Sound System £ 834.00
Total Recommended Retail Price*: £ 68,503.00
If I was looking to cut that spec , then personally I would drop the 21 wheels, the leather interior and the carbon interior making the car look more like a "standard" GTS. the remaining options ate mainly items that add to comfort, utility or performance and hence you get some value from than not just look items. A base GTS looks good enough

IMHO a GTS looks a little odd with Turbo wheels. I do like Turbo wheels but it just takes away from the GTS thing.

Thanks for clarifying that - I thought it meant rear curtain airbags. Good to know they're fitted as standard.

I've got the 21" turbo wheels and even I think you should get the GTS alloys.

But please get the sports chrono. Even if you don't want it, the next buyer will and you'll find it easier to sell.

Given half the people on here don’t think it is necessary then presumably half or less think it would be necessary second hand...

In my opinion, this is very much a demographic thing.

Half the people on here don't think it's necessary on their new car today. That's a fair statistic.

But half the people aren't buying a new GTS. Half the people don't care too much about performance. For many, like yourself, the SUV in Macan is more about the U than the S - you have another car to satisfy your sports needs. If you didn't, you may have bought a GTS or even a Turbo.

When this car is traded in after say 36 months it's going to be a used car. It's going to be considerably cheaper than a new one, say half price.

The people going to buy in that market are either going to be on a budget, and buying an S, or after performance and buying a GTS. If performance is their game, sports chrono will likely be all the difference. Not having a sports plus button will likely be a deal breaker.

I'm not saying it will affect every buyer but, from your own claims, it may reduce the number of potential buyers by a half. Nobody is going to mind it being there, but half the people simply won't buy the car if it doesn't have it.

In my case, when we were buying, there were about 80-90 Turbo cars on sale. As soon as I specified keyless entry and start as a requirement, I was left with just 12. When I excluded the colours we didn't want, just 3 cars. We waited months for the right car to appear.

Spec is everything if it's a factory fit option.

Genuinely want none of those. Keyless is good in practice, but a security risk. No interest in the others at all!
