So, I'm getting a low voltage warning when using PIWIS, and it won't let me do any coding while it's there. It seems my CTEK MXS 3.8 doesn't cut it.
Reading up online it needs to have a high amp charger connected. Does anyone have experience of these, or can point me to a suitable option?
PIWIS coding - battery charger
Ah, well that's good to hear that 20A works. I thought I was going to have to shell out for something like this:

I’ve just been concerned about my battery state. A bit sluggish at start up, after several days with no use, but no warning on system.
Trotted off to specialist battery supplier. And was expecting to have it replaced. The tech’ guy questioned me regarding symptoms, and checked it over. Said that it was ok, but could be just a sluggish cell. But said not to replace it, at this time. I said when I rang for a price, the agent gave me a price and said, the computer was showing it did not need reprogramming, after fitting. The tech’ then said that’s how we would fit it, without programming it. He asked how I knew it needed to be recoded. I said through social media and forums. He suggested I contact Porsche. I said but the answer would be skewed for them to get the work.
He said if the PC is showing no reprogramming, they would fit it without.
So I’m still not 100% sure one way or the other.

That link brings up one that says it’s not suitable for start/stop vehicles or AGM batteries, both of which the Macan has. There is a reference to their smart charger which may be more suitable although I didn’t check that.ultramega wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 5:55 pm All sorted for the bargain price of £75

I spoke with a real good electrical engineer, who said that the smart chargers, CTEK and the like are no use in powering the emergency systems. Which includes bonnet release and such like. As they are too smart and don’t deliver a constant voltage, which is needed.ultramega wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 10:23 am So, I'm getting a low voltage warning when using PIWIS, and it won't let me do any coding while it's there. Thanks for the heads up Nick. I’m taking the Ring charger back today for a refund.

It seems stop/start batteries are AGM batteries, so any AGM charger will be suitable as long as the amperage is high enough.

Wise move, wouldn’t want a dead battery at the cost of these things nowadays!ultramega wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 7:58 am Thanks for the heads up Nick. I’m taking the Ring charger back today for a refund.
