I own a 911 (my second) and have a romantic view of the model as well. But I can’t believe that Porsche would just say “The 911 story is over” whenever it become illegal to make ICE cars any more.

the 992 will be 5 in 2024 ?

Technically it will be 5 as production started in 2019, but it was released as a 2020 model year vehicle.

So the speculation is 992 4-years (20-24MY) + 992.2 another 3-years (25-27MY) with hybrid, and we get to electric 911 in 2028-ish.

Pure speculation, but it makes sense.
Would hope Porsche retires the 911 badge rather than putting it on an electric car. One of the greatest pieces of ICE automotive history should just not go electric…But of course, I get it….Porsche’s view on that topic will not be as romantic as mine.

Folk (including me) had that kind of view when diesels came around to cars, and even estates for certain brands. I remember saying it would be shocking if Jag ever made a diesel version of their cars, I could have NEVER imagined a diesel estate Jaaaaaag.
Some will want to own a 911, be it petrol or electric, and Porsche want to make money.

Well, as one of the fossil-fuel-heads, I want a new, petrol, flat-six motor in my car, for as they are allowed in the UK of GB.

At some point in time, we will get conditioned to accept EV’s and I will probably get one for short trips, where the petrol motor wouldn’t even get to operating temperature, but for longer drives I will take the 911!

Is collection from Stuttgart still allowed? Or is it only for the EU based customers?

A colleague of mine picked 911 in Stuttgart and drove back to UK ~5-years ago, ie. before Brexit and Covid.

I asked in April but was told that this was no longer an option. 🤷‍♂️

I was also told that if this would reopen as an option, the order would have to be resubmitted as a new one, at the end of the queue!

Do you believe this statement?
Would you have to place new order with a German dealer?

No they did not mean that the order would have to be placed with a German dealer. The same dealer would handle the order, but it would have to be a order new and not a modification of an existing order. At least that is what they told me.

What are the Macan leadtimes nowadays?

I am told that my 992 C2S will probably be delivered mid next year. That is 18-months from my order placed in Dec-2021.

I suspect that higher margin vehicles are prioritised right now.

Am sure that folks have been quoted 18-24 months for a Macan GTS, with some OPCs no longer taking orders for that model?

Am sure that a base 2.0 or a T could be had quicker, so maybe not purely prioritising higher margin cars (as am sure they make more £££s on a GTS than a base 2.0). ;)

Other aspects come into play, such as average emissions, I suspect. :geek:
