Hi all
Hope you’re doing well. I have a 2019 Macan S, that has done 28,500 miles. I had yellow warning light appear recently stating that brake pads need replacing but driving is permitted. I booked in with Porsche OPC East London, who’ve said it’s the rear brake pads which have 3mm and roughly 80% wear. They’ve recommended I get the rear pads and discs replaced. On the disks, they said these are very badly lipped. They quoted £1200 for all of that, I was a little surprised. Not being particularly mechanically inclined, does that sound reasonable or have I been mugged off?
Have added pics below, which are screenshots from the vehicle health survey.
On a side note, the prices for tyres and fitting seems to be somewhat extortionate. I have 21s and the p-zeros, and they quoted 412 for the front passenger side tyre. Think I’m probably best off getting this done elsewhere.
Thank you for your help in advance! And nice to be on the forum.

You'll be better off getting everything done elsewhere - period! OPC's service charges at circa £200ph labour is nothing short of a complete rip off and I for one will not pay it. The changing discs "story" is the oldest one in the book, well discussed on here, and is highly likely to be unnecessary at 28,500 miles. It's a lovely little earner for the garage if they can find a punter who will not query it - as many, unlike you, will not.
Go to a trusted local garage who will give you a more unbiased opinion. You do not need to be Porsche trained or require specialist tools to change brake pads and discs, it is a very straight forward job. Just insist on OEM parts (maintain the new car warranty and be on the safe side anyway) and pay £50 to £60 per hour labor.
Good Luck

Ask the question "Will the disks pass a MOT" if they say "No" then get a second opinion.

Unfortunately they’re doing the work now. Caught me when I was a little busy with work, so didn’t have too long to ask questions. It’s sad re. the discs, the vehicle health check video made it seem like they’re in terrible shape, which is pretty disingenuous if not the case.
Will take it to a good independent (sure there must be a few in London) when the lights for the front come on.
Thanks for the help

If that is the price for one tyre, then it is way too high. Plenty of good quality tyre dealers in London will beat that price. Also the internet tyre supliers - for example - Blackcircles £292.76 for Pirelli P Zero 265/40 R21 Y (101) N0 including fitting, balancing and casing disposal by a mobile operator at your home or work. Or at a Kwik-Fit centre £285.50.kanzaz wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 10:21 pm

On a medium SUV driven with some enthusiasm I would expect 60-80k out of the rear disks. Fronts may be a little less. For purely mechanical consumables like disks and pads then an independent is better value assuming they use Porsche Parts to maintain warranty. I have no problem paying OPC prices for fair work and a good relationship but stunts like new disks/pads at 28k undermine all that trust.
Had lipped front disks highlighted at the service on my X3 at 30k. They were replaced at 80k, but that car is not driven hard.

You could try Porshetech in Hampstead.
I did my front disk and pads there - for just over £850
When East London quoted me £1600.
I have warranty and Porshetech uses all genuine Porsche parts.
Front ones are more expensive than back pair.

I got our disk for free on ours because they changed them when they shouldn't have
The Tech didn't know that on Macans you don't need to change disks and pads at the same time like the other models and just did it anyway !
