Just got a call from OPC and confirms that my wife's Macan (2017) transfer box is faulty and will be replaced under the 7 years warranty. I noticed the 'classic' symptoms when pulling away and in tight turns over the last couple of months.

Good that it is getting done under warranty.

Remind me here, did they resolve the transfer box issue on the latest models with an improved part design? Are Gen3 cars expected to experience this issue?

I have a Macan S built 12/03/18 and on a VIN check, I have the following code:
LU2 TRANSFER GEAR REINFORCED

I assume this to mean that this is an amended part?

That's the Macan back home with a new Transfer Box replaced. The car is much smoother when pulling away and there is no more juddering on smooth tarmac. A big plus for us is when reversing as we always reverse park at home and in the public car parks.
