Hi everyone, had a Diesel S since new, 2017 and extended warranty and just noticed the roof seals have perished/damaged. Have got it going in next week for an interim service and wondered if this was covered. Car been outside all its life so not sure of lifespan. Looks like there are several seals within the roof and wonder what the cost will be to replace as I will likely have to. Think I’ve attached two photos.

Thanks

Welcome to our friendly forum! :)

Depends how generous they’re feeling. They may put it down to wear and tear, as I guess anything that’s rubber/plastic may gradually deteriorate over time with age/use.

Best of luck.

Welcome.

I would give them a ring and ask for a cost, replacement seals will not be fitted as a matter of routine during a service, even checking and clearing out the Pano drains is likely to be a chargeable extra.

If not covered by warranty, there are plenty of specialists out there who will put new set of seals on it for fractions of what OPC will charge.

My guess is that the items will be classed as "trim", which isn't covered by extended warranty.

Exactly why I don't bother with extended warranties - anything likely to go wrong won't be covered!

Thanks for the welcome and the advice, I didn’t think they would be covered but have asked Nottingham OPC just in case. I’ve found them to be quite good over the last couple of years, others I’ve used have seem to wriggle out of problems or just add unnecessary extras to the invoice. I’ve a local independent near me so I’ll ask them as well. I did have the drains done back in 2017 when I was one of those with a battery well full of water. A few niggles over the years but such a great car so reluctant to get rid of it. Thanks again Adrian

I treated my panoramic roof seals with Gummi Pflege when I first bought my Macan. It is made by a long established German company and is specific for car weather seals, it will also refurbish dried seals and help them retain their sealing efficiency. My car lives outside and after 3 years in all weather the seals are still like new. Unfortunately yours look past the refurbishment stage, but I would recommend anyone with a pano to protect the seals and can certainly recommend Gummi Pflege.

Looks pretty easy if it is like this (and I suspect it is much the same unit as they all use the same OEM)
