Was paying £3,000 all in, renewal came in at £3,800.
Quick call and surprise, back down to £3,100 - result.
Admiral have been excellent service and claim handling in the past 👍
Care to share your bargaining tactics, Jon? ;)
I just asked them politely to look at it again and bring it back down to around last year’s premium. It’s obviously a good account for them and have been with them for six years. They have a “pot” of discounts they can apply but only do it when you call them and ask!
I suppose many folk will do nothing and just accept the increase. Interestingly, the most expensive car is the Macan and I could get that one car cheaper elsewhere but the overall multi car discount means it’s cheaper to keep it on the same policy 🤷‍♂️

My wife is insured with Admiral and when I tried to add the Macan it came out even higher than if I did it independently. Even they had no clue why. However, for me Churchill Premium was neraly half the price so they weren't getting the business anyway. Very odd algorithiums they all use.

I must admit, having dealt with Admiral for a theft claim, I would be loathed to move away from them as long as they were even ball park competitive - daughters car stolen, full claim paid out in seven days no quibble. Good to deal with and able to negotiate premium with a real person 👍

Not always! My step mum pays her AA breakdown recovery on autorenewal. She carried on the policy after Dad died in 2015. She drives about 500 miles a year the couple of miles in and out of town. I found out yesterday that the renewal was £350 but she has the benefit of full European cover 🤣

My insurance is due soon, so I responded to an email from Confused.com.

LV came out second cheapest and is a name I recognise. Several forum contributors are insured through LV, I believe.

Cheapest was Esure Flex, at about 48% cheaper than LV!!

Recent Trust Pilot reviews of Esure Flex are pretty poor re: their customer service, but hopefully most of us don’t end up actually contacting our insurers, apart from renewal etc.

I’m currently with Admiral.

Cheers,
"Which" recommend car insurance provides like LV tend to have customer experience and policy standard scores very near 80. For Esure, the customer experience score is 57 and policy 69.

Most types of insurance should not be bought with price as the majority factor, value is far more important.
