I bought my Macan from an OPC - had about 4K miles on it but it still felt like a new car handover… glass of (alcohol free) bubbly, car covered in cloth and slowly revealed, invite back to go over the functions etc. I think with a new one there are additional invites to drive on a track or something while you wait for the build - is that right? - so I didn’t get that experience obviously.

Shame the memories are so fresh given it got nicked this week. Those memories are all I have. Sniff. Well, and the keys.

I should have posted specs, price etc but I was more asking in general about ex demos. Are there any known problems or issues, the fact possibly 100’s of people have drove the car makes think of a lot of wear and tear but think that might be being picky.

The specs of the ex demo is better than what I would have picked for practically the same price.
I'd originally ordered a "T" but when Porsche put up their prices I looked for an ex demo. I found an ex-demo "S" with most of the options I wanted plus a good few more I wouldn't have specced. I was very wary of buying it as the price was very competitive, same price as a new "T", and it was 250 miles away. I went to see the car and although there were a few marks on the front lower valance I decided to buy it and haven't regretted it. It still had 32 months new car warranty so any mechanical problems would have ve der warranty.
The bonus was that I had the car within a fortnight and road tax was £550 instead of the £2100 first year registration fee, also my p/ex was valued then and not 6 months away which meant I had about £4000 more it. Okay the depreciation on the Macan over the 6 months is probably more but I've had 6 months of driving a Macan "S", loving it ,
I don't think I would have gone for an ex demo "T" in lieu of of a new "T" unless there was a big price difference.

I’ve bought an ex demo car before. A MK5 Golf.

Ran perfectly for 3 year before I moved onto something else. Once you own it, you forget other people have driven it.

If the spec is good and the deal is good, I’d say go for it.

Did exactly the same with the same thought process apart from not a demo but 9months old one owner.

OP, if your head and heart says yes, go for it 👍

Absolutely nothing wrong with an ex demo. I’m assuming it’s ballpark what you want to pay and below list, including options but only the ones you’d actually pick? The most likely reason for me to avoid a demo Porsche would be to avoid haggling with OPC salesmen who don’t know the meaning of the word!

Ask if they will add in the PEC experience as part of the deal, I believe every new Porsche gets a slot regardless if it’s a demo or not. It’s a fun morning.

Forgot about that, original buyer bought my S and placed an order for a GTS at the same time, that arrived 9months after taking S delivery and part exchanged, I was pleasantly surprised when I received a PEC invitation.

Referencing one of the comments above, make sure it's not been a demo car at the PEC. In which case it will have had the life thrashed out of it.
But I'm sure they will be nearly new vehicles, with a lowish mileage. So it will be easy to determine. And ask the SE, who will have to tell the truth, hopefully.

Ex-demo cars are generally OK and should have been looked after fairly well. My wife's TT and our old Freelander were both ex-demo cars and they're essentially fine. The only thing I'd mention is the possibility of paint damage - swirls from careless washing/polishing. Our ex-demo cars both have this to some extent. Depends how precious you are about the visual appearance. I wouldn't have tolerated it on a Macan though, and my Macan is swirl-free thanks to careful washing and no polishing since new.

Those swirls can be easily dealt with by a good car detailer 😉

Depends upon many factors.

Escorted drive Macan’s should be OK but where one has been used as say a 1/2 day or full day loaner then they may well have been thrashed a bit but not in the PEC fashion.

I’d produce a Must Have List if I was you and see what low mileage Macans are available.

For me minimum spec and options would be:- PASM, 14way, ACC, Surround Cam, PS+ with a Spare wheel a “Nice to Have” & anything else a bonus.

Colour would be subjective and what to me are odd ie papaya, copper ruby, carmine, crayon and python would be those that are currently fashionable but may well be a deal breaker in two or three years time when looking to move on, hence with these I would offer well sort of the asking price.
