My sister might disagree. Lives in a Surrey town, had a group of Eastern Europeans steel the catalytic converter from her Lexus Hybrid off her drive.

When she, my Brother in Law + 2 adult nephews (all of which are 6ft + and well built) went to the front door, they were told by two of the gang with baseball bats to just go back inside.

Took them only a few minutes with axle grinders to remove the catalytic converter and they were gone. Police said they hit a number of cars in the town that evening.

If they find that Porsche (or other) headlights are more lucrative than catalytic converters, they’ll soon adapt their modus operandi.

I think Bennachie was being sarcastic.

We are literally allowing every man and his dog into the country. No criminal checks, nothing.

Then we wonder why all types of crime is up.

Could be worst, not even the humble Corsa is exempt from the party strippers.

It should play via YT if you click on "Watch on YouTube"
Otherwise, search YT for "Why are thieves stealing Porsche headlights?!" it's on the Carwow channel.

Corsa is much in demand by thieves due to the requirement for parts. As is the Fiesta.

I think, to a degree, the absurd cost of parts and servicing set by official dealers, has created a market for those who cannot afford to take their cars to official repair centres.
If you're buying from a garage or other, official parts that are significantly cheaper, you have to question how.

Of course, independent garages don't have the same overheads, but sometimes when you see ridiculously low part costs on eBay for example, you must wonder where they are coming from.

The eBay bargains generally say "Pre-owned", so you know they're second-hand.

Yes, but buyers won't necessarily know whether pre-owned by a victim of theft.
