My neighbour of many moons ago once asked me what I cleaned my wheels with , I suggested he use the small sponge scouring pads , non scratch, but NOT the all green ones.
Later that day there was a knock on the door, my neighbour, "could I come and have a look at his wheel" , nice BMW 5 spoke on his Z3. It was covered in scratches , he'd actually used one of the all green scouring pads ooooooooooooH.

Back in my teenage years a mate cleaned his brand new corsa with a green scourer to get the mud off the sides. Completely trashed it on its first wash!!
