If I was to start a separate thread it would have a similar heading, so hope you don't mind me posting my issue here!

Maybe we can compare sheet music - here's a sound clip : https://www.dropbox.com/s/mq82ttykgc1sq ... l.mp4?dl=0 - recorded with a mobile phone inside the cabin with the windows closed, while decelerating from 20 - 0 mph. I hope the link works.

notes:
- Noise is soft enough to go unheard at motorway speed or with music at normal volume.
- Different passengers point in different directions.
- Doesn't happen while stationary.
- Doesn't change when changing gears.
- Doesn't change when shifting manually.
- 'Rotational' ie seems to speed up with higher speed, until it gets lost behind regular road & wind noise.
- This is on a '16 SD. This noise apart, it behaves, sounds and performs on par with our '17 SD.
- Odo at 88k. Bought this one recently as my daily runner. It behaved during the test drive (dealer was probably very relieved).. but noticed it the next day..
- PDK fluid was changed recently which made no change.

Any thoughts welcome.

Stevieman, how does it compare?
Sounds like a slight brake disc rubbing noise. Warped disc?

Hi,

Having listened to it, it isn’t the same noise that I have unfortunately.

I’m not sure what this is , but good luck in your search.

Thanks Stevieman :/

SAC1, thanks - plan is to have the front rotors & pads replaced. These are well worn and I'm pinning my hopes on it though the noise does occur independent of acceleration, coasting or braking. Will give an update once that's been done.

Hey - my Macan Turbo is making a very similar noise, have it booked into a specialist in a few weeks time.

Did you manage to sort it out?

Thanks

Hey,

No, never got to the bottom of it. I now live with it 😞.

I driven a few more Macans since the last post and none of them do it., although to be fair, it was some 2l’s and a couple of GTS’s so not really a fair comparison.

Please let me know if they find anything though?

Ah ok. Yeah my GTS before this didn’t make any sort of noise either, very odd.

I’ll let you know if they find anything, fingers crossed. Performance isn’t an issue, it’s just annoying really.

I’ve only noticed high speed whining. Usually from the front passenger seat telling me to slow down.

I find turning the stereo volume up helps drone it out 👍

I never did post an update after replacing the front rotors & pads - well, this had no impact on the noise.

However, during the last few warmer (albeit not by much..) months, its been quieter by a good margin / often not noticeable.
Since I've not found the source I've no confidence that it won't be escalating again in due course.
