Have a look at this video-clip on (gen-3) Solid State Batteries with potentially doubling or tripling the power to weight ratio. A lot of hype with boom-and-bust companies, but the concept is working and now it is an iterative engineering process to solve remaining problems:

Does anyone on this forum know which dealer takes deposits for Macan EV? I made few calls on south coast and they put me on interested list (read marketing spam), but are not taking money until launch

I asked our SE at Portsmouth OPC a while ago and was also told they're not taking deposits as yet. I did wonder afterwards whether they fear having loads of deposits that they end up having to return when the price of the EV is revealed. I'm guessing it will arrive with a circa £20k uplift over current Gen 3 models.

If they cease ice production then I think they may have a base spec with say a 200 mile range for £60k that you can option up. Then the S with 300m for £70k and the GTS with sub 4 secs 0-60 for £80k

Ditto, I called Portsmouth and Bournemouth :)
To their defense, they want to be fair with customers, as otherwise they might land with bussload of speculators hogging the line.

I don’t thing they will cease production… their biggest market (CN) is far away from having a sufficient network of chargers to cover their vast territory.

One day, when I get my 911, I will use it as grand tourer to mainland Eurp, and Macan for short trips on the island. 200 mi is fine for now. Once petrol is verboten, we will need gen3 batteries with vastly improved power-density.

I think the next lot of EU emissions changes will end ICE Macan sales in Europe

I think that you are right, once the world returns to normal, and right now it doesn’t look like it will be anytime soon.

In the meantime, most EU countries are planning to regain energy independence from Ras-Putin and his cronies. Nuke and coal power stations are being considered for re-opening as an emergency measure. Once we regain stability, we will revert to sustainability plans.

I suspect that German auto industry will be exerting max pressure on Brussels to delay the next wave of emission controls, as the industry is in such a distress that no-one can respond fast enough.

I think we disagree on timing. MY 2023 EV Macan Turbo. MY 2024 or 2025 Macan S and base become EV. The last date I read for EU 7 regime was 2025.

We should set a poll. I speculate:

1. Macan EV base model and S in 2023
2. Macan EV Turbo and GTS in 2024

In the meantime Macan base ICE and S production continues for developing countries… and some get shipped to European market, while it is still allowed.
