Surely it’s Tesla propaganda, rubbishing the opposition? 🤔

For now, I will stick to flat-six boxer motor 🤓
Agreed. Never be a first adopter and get sacrificed on the foreskin of technology ;)
Agree, I will take a look at the the Macan EV but as OP wished I can’t see real world 300 mile range just yet. There will be a lot of new development coming through by 2030 and beyond. May well be best to Go late and Go Wise.

The later paragraphs of the above article on the forthcoming Audi Suv being developed on the same platform as the Ev Macan hint of a range of up to 380 miles for SUV's on the platform.

I have a few EV-driving friends and they all reluctantly admit that the range is not as advertised.
We do need gen-3 batteries, we need equivalent of Gordon Moore of batteries, to make it viable alternative.

But is mega range really such a requirement for most on the assumption you can charge at home or work which many people buying such expensive cars can do.
My ID.3 is officially listed at 260 miles which is more like 200 in fast A road driving. I charge at work so plug in when I need to and don’t remember the last time I did over 200 miles in one day. You just plug in when you need which you could argue is more convenient than having to go to a petrol station.

For at least 50 % of motorists mega range is not needed but for some, it can be. Range becomes an issue for those who regularly go on holiday in country areas of the UK away from the outer central motorway network. Even, when we get a substantial charging network, will it cope with say an August bank Holiday load unless UK practices change?

I agree completely, one doesn’t need a large agricultural vehicle for city/town driving. ID.3 or i3s is more than sufficient.

However, for longer distance driving, range and access to fast charging matters, unless you plan to break your trip into short sections and/or stay over. I like to ride to the Med-sea and I can’t wait to get there… so at this stage Petrol is my default energy source.

I would say the percentage not needing mega range per day is a lot higher than 50%, more like 85 to 90%.
Based on an average mileage of say 10000 per annum that is less than 200 miles per week!

The infrastructure will improve and very rapidly as we get closer to the ban on sales of ICE vehicles.

Wet fuel is here for a long time. Cars on the road 35m. Annual new car sales 2m. So well into the 2040s the majority of cars won't be 100% EV.
