I visited the Planet Porsche today, a.k.a. PEC Silverstone
I got to ride & drive the 992 C2S in different road conditions… I loved every second!
The performance of the C2S model is breathtaking, a bit of an overkill for my riding, but if I got myself a baseline model, I would always wonder what would it be like to have an S. And since this is my final Petrol-Head car… no half measures.
I spoke with the SE at my OPC and now I am third out of eight people in the queue, so we have small progress. I have also convinced myself that it would be better to get a 992.2 model… so I can now relax and wait for the new product launch

Glad you enjoyed it!
The C2 versus C2S argument goes on though...
You only live once, so get a C2S rather than a C2. No hang on, a GTS. No wait, a Turbo. Oh, to hell with it, a Turbo S!

I wouldn’t spend a single second wondering what the next model up would be like…
Just like the Macan variants, same car, same engine, just tweaked with a little more power.
I’m sure I will be corrected but the C2S looks like an extra £12k for bigger wheels some sport tailpipes and half a second better 0-62 ??
The only thing I would be wondering is why the S exists at all…

^^^ That’s why I bought a T rather than an S or a GTS!
Am pretty sure that the 911 Carrera outsells the 911 Carrera S. Clever Porsche marketing and profit maximising.

Oh, did Wing Commander say GTS? It crossed my mind, but I was told it’s a separate queue, so I would land up at the back of an ever growing list of prospective cussies.
IIRC, the C2 has 380PS and C2S has 450PS, will I need it, probably not, do I want it, hell YESS. I have to do a run on Deutsche Autobahn, and Nurburgring, and Spa, and… before it gets outlawed by some pencil-neck, or I get too old to enjoy it.

The waiting game continues… I am now 3rd in the queue for C2S, while the waiting list is only getting longer. I see that the new C2S is ~£2’ooo more expensive and rumour has it 992.2 is due in 2024, I.e in line with the standard 911 7-year release cycle.

Technically it will be 5 as production started in 2019, but it was released as a 2020 model year vehicle.
So the speculation is 992 4-years (20-24MY) + 992.2 another 3-years (25-27MY) with hybrid, and we get to electric 911 in 2028-ish.
Pure speculation, but it makes sense.

Would hope Porsche retires the 911 badge rather than putting it on an electric car. One of the greatest pieces of ICE automotive history should just not go electric…But of course, I get it….Porsche’s view on that topic will not be as romantic as mine.Pivot wrote: ↑Thu Jun 23, 2022 7:28 am
