I had a call with Porsche GB today and I learned that the forecasted availability of my 992 C2S order is now end of 2023. [ shock & horror ]

I am patient man and I can wait few months, but this is seriously uncool!

When I placed the order in Dec-2021 the forecast was 9-months. 8 months later it is 24-months. How can it be? Who is telling us the BS stories?
I read in the press and see in annual results presentations that Porsche is shipping record numbers of 911 models. Where do they go? It appears not into UK retail market.
Current: 911 Carrera T - PPM9RU51
On order: 911 Targa 4S - PPDV8NY4

Placed my order for c2 in May this year and was told delivery Q1 24. Don’t know if this has changed as i haven’t been told anything different but I haven’t asked either.
I agree it’s an absurd lead time really and I may well buy a used one long before my lockdown date 🤔

You then go to PEC at Silverstone, with a parking lot full of different derivatives, which get then sold as almost new at a larger profit margin than a new one. Shocking!

I’m banking on used prices coming down before my delivery date although no sign so far. Sadly, I am getting more and more into EV’s and it’s more likely that will be my direction of travel in a couple of years, and that certainly wouldn’t be Porsche.
Time will tell…

Ditto, I have the tax efficient EV scheme at work. So far I convinced my dear lady to go EV while I drag my knuckles through the fossil fuel, but this is getting annoying.

Apparently they started to focus on the higher end of the range to get those models built/sold. Some folk have had their GTS and GT models months before they thought they would.
You never know, once they are completed the base and S range might get a a move on again and come through quicker.

Good chance of used prices coming down pretty soon with the way energy prices are going, and if this recession hits.

I placed an order for 992 C4GTS coupe and 992 Turbo S in April this year - quoted quarter 2, 2023 for the C4GTS and at least 2 years for the turbo S. At the time in April I was told that GTS models would be the quickest for delivery and that C2, C4S and C2S were 2 years. I would have gone GTS anyway because I've had 991.1 and 991.2 C4GTS previously and have also had a 992 C2S. The GTS models are now 18 months at least as more people have gone down the GTS route because of the lead times on the C2, C4S and CTS.

I don't see 2nd hand prices dropping any time soon - recession and cost of living crisis unlikely to affect the Porsche buying demographic! Unfortunately it's the poorest in society that bear the brunt of these sorts of crisis which is wholly unfair but I don't want to start a political debate on that.

I mostly agree, @MacanArif, however with rising interest rates, weak-hands will be shaken-off the market, e.g. some speculators and flippers. On the other hand, it takes time to rebuild supply chains. We have so many variables at play that we will have to see how it unfolds.

I too think interest rates will start to affect things

Whilst I accept many people that have money will still have money to buy the Porsche product I also think there are scarily too many people that buy these things on finance and the interest rate hikes will make that more expensive to do on a monthly basis and along with other monthlies of utilities etc going up everybody has a monthly limit…

Yes - there's some big shocks coming when people remortgage their two year fixes - probably interest cotsts doubling at least
