Hi,
Travelling up to the North East on Sunday to collect my Macan S from the OPC which is exciting.
Been offered the expected dealer provided Ceramic (CX2) Coating and Leather Package for £799 but it doesn't take much research to see that its not generally recommended to take this option for a variety of reasons.
But still tempted to protect my new pride and joy so curious to see if anyone has any recommendations for the Newcastle area for a ceramic coating detail which could be done before I drive back down to SE London.
Less interested in interior detailing but keen to protect the exterior up to a point!
Thanks in advance.
Chris

I can recommend Tdi in South Shields but he’ll be busy.
Try Just Car Care in Washington.
Ultimately though I don’t think you going to get what your after in your time frame unfortunately. Can be up to a two day job or longer and an overnight cure.

Hi. Thanks and yes i did wonder that.
The car has come in a couple of weeks earlier than expected so haven't had time to plan as much as I'd like.
Might just have to wait until I'm back down south.

Ask for a detailed specification on the works that they would do for the cost.
If there is no mention of paint correction or curing, forget it and get a pro to do it.
Nothing wrong in driving it back home and getting it done locally.

So for those of you in the midlands, I popped into Chartwell body shop today to enquire if they did ceramic coating. If you’re familiar with Chartwell you will know they are a premier body shop specialist and are officially affiliated to Porsche, Ferrari, Bentley etc.
Looking at the building and the reception full of Ferraris and Porsche I wasn’t hopeful (at least not in my budget). Imagine my surprise when they quoted me full Gtechnic treatment for bodywork, glass, wheels and interior for £660 + VAT.
Their opening gambit was £1450 + VAT but agreed that Macan would be treated as a “smaller car” and I guess they wanted the business. They are not a specialist detailer but their reputation might be the best in the country.
Anyone have any thoughts on why I shouldn’t go this route just in case I’m missing something??

Personally if I were in the midlands I'd take the car to Gtechnig HQ in Northamptonshire.Jon A wrote: ↑Tue Feb 08, 2022 10:16 pm So for those of you in the midlands, I popped into Chartwell body shop today to enquire if they did ceramic coating. £1450+VAT sounds like they would outsource the work and add their commission on top as you are generally looking at between £900-£1100+VAT from most Gtechniq accredited detailers.
£660+VAT get it in writing what they would do and what they would apply as I'd imagine you won't be Gtechnig Crystal serum ultra for that price.

yes £660 is a typical price for the Gtechniq Platinum serviceMrBaozi wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 12:20 am .

Ending up booking a full new car detail with DDB in North Shields who seem to have a good rep and good social media profile. To be fair they’ve come in at the weekend to finish the car off and looking forward to collection on Tuesday morning after it’s Spa weekend.

Great spec. You will be amazed at the finish achieved at DDP. Best in the buisness. Just need ppf on bonnet and fron end. Job done. Enjoy
