I must say that the Gen 3 4 cylinder felt a lot better from low revs than the earlier models. The Gen 2 I drove was only tolerable in Sport. The improvement with the new one was enough to sway me to order one…

I drove a Lotus Elise for eight years. I wondered why anyone would pay similar money for an Audi TT!

Because his wife wanted one! How simple is that?

A proper car. All sorts of people pointed to the 318 etc etc.
IF i am going to buy a BMW it has to have 6 cylinders - so a 320 (6 pot then).
Fast forward to first Porsche...... Cayman S, followed by another Cayman S then WTF! the 'new' (718) Cayman is two cylinders short of a proper car.
What is all this about?
If you are going to buy a Porker, (or a BM) get a real one. One with the appropriate number of cylinders. Six (or more).

Nothing wrong with 4 cylinder motors (or three) I have owned a lot and enjoyed virtually all of them. However, there are certain marques of vehicle which MUST have multi-cylinder (more than 4) motors. Would you really consider an Audi UR Quattro with a 4 pot?

Here endeth the first lesson...........................
What’s your thoughts on Lotus?

I went for the AMG i4 DCT version of the Emira instead of the V6. Been told it arrives in December.
I heard an A45 pull away at speed the other day - the sound was not endearing !

When the V6 was put in the exige it became a proper grown up mini super car - I had a 4 cylinder before so am qualified to say that

Original Elan with BDA fantastic. Europa amazing despite a renault engine. Esprit? Needed the V8 BUT you could have any of them as Lotus did not/ has not a history/legacy of multi cylinder motors. The later Loti with 6 cylinder toyota engines were not a defining development.....
I’ve had a lotus in one shape or another for 16 years - been more reliable than my 992…

You don’t need validation to buy a T, it’s a good car full stop.
Having said that let’s get some perspective on “handling”, all these cars are two ton SUV’s and my wife’s M240i would lap a Macan GTS on a twisty circuit with her driving it!!
I do very occasionally push mine around some twisties for fun but it’s not something you can do often or safely on todays roads - most of the time I enjoy the extra turn of pace I can get when overtaking or accelerating up a slip road and I enjoy the sound it makes too.
The base engines won’t be quite so dramatic in this regard but still a brisk car if not a fast one, and of course it will always look good and be beautifully built.
Enjoy your Macan (whatever flavour) they are all great cars. 😊

Very nice. As a Lego fan, I'm envious! Do all Australian orders get that?

Due to collect mine Saturday but I'm not very hopeful.
