By Porsche standards that's not too bad. Does that include VAT?

CKMAC wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 8:50 am I have just noticed that the 12V socket is no longer available inside the Gen 3 storage compartment.

Does it work to use an USB-C to 12V socket converter to power a Blackvue 2CH dashcams (which is my alternative)?

I just want to avoid the use of the 12V socket hidden in the centre console front compartment.
I use the obdii port to power mine. It's a five minute job to hide the wire in the trim edges and I used velcro straps to bundle the excess inside the lower dash behind the port. Just search Amazon for obdii cable. £15 from memory.

On a Gen 3, the 12V socket is located under the rubber mat at the rear of the centre console.
I believe this is the socket that @CKMAC is trying to avoid using Allan

I don't know the answer to the USB-C question. I thought USB was a much lower voltage than the 12v socket would be.
For what it is worth I have the Porsche front and rear dash cam and the best part of it is that there are no dangly wires. Very professional looking installation and for me, on the level of car I have, it is worth the - admittedly expensive - cost just for that
The OPC has quoted me the same price as those shown on the Tequipment site and hence I have included it in my order now.
Bear in mind that Tequipment 'extras' are just that. They are dealer fit rather than factory fit so the bottom line is that any wiggle room or discount is on the dealer and not part of the factory order. I phoned around and was quoted everything from the ~£780 Equipment price to well over £1200 for an aftermarket fitting. When I queried with my OPC where my order was placed we did negotiate a discount as part of the order. It is entirely at the discretion of your OPC where your order is.

But, as I said earlier, even the £780 Tequipment price, in my opinion is expensive, yet not massively so for a front and rear supplied and fitted. Yes, you can buy one cheaper at Halfrauds but is the end result as neat and professional??

Strangely I contacted on Friday the OPC I bought my S from re getting a Porsche dash cam fitted. Dash prepared cars at a cost of £760 for front and rear, unfortunately my car doesn’t have it standard( 07/2022 car). They could do me a front only cam for £880, I’ve got one of those so thanks but no thanks.

Can anyone suggest an alternative, was thinking of buying a front and rear set , suggestions would be much appreciated and then getting local Indy to fit?
