I'm considering buying a cancelled order Macan S or a demonstrator (at full list price).
Are we likely to see a price increase in the next few months? If not, I may go for a factory order instead to get the spec I want

Go for the factory order. When you are paying full whack you should get what you want not someone else's idea of a good spec.

Are you aware of the current very long lead times on new orders? Probably well over 12 months for an S.
I think any demonstrators would be way over full list price currently. Any cancelled orders would go to others who have paid a deposit and are in the “queue”.
There has just been a price increase so none expected in the next few months. But there could be another before you get a delivery!
Sorry if this is disheartening!

It’s not disheartening, hence why I am considering buying what I’ve been offered with a 8 week leadtime.Makanik wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 8:38 pm

Demonstrator is at list.
What do we think depreciation on an S would be like over the next two years?

Given the massive lead time for new stock I wouldn't be surprised if 24 month old with 16k going for 80% of list if not more.

Sounds like you have two good opportunities to get a Macan quickly! Only you can really judge how acceptable they would be to you depending on the options they would come with.
As for depreciation in 24 months, almost impossible to judge.

How near to your desired spec is either option and do either have a "must have" missing. If so then you are giving strong money for a car that's not really what you want.
Is the cancelled order coming with the original purchasers £3,000 deposit knocked off. I understand you lose your deposit if you cancel after lock in.

The demonstrator has a better spec.HertsMacan wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 9:35 pm How near to your desired spec is either option and do either have a "must have" missing. If so then you are giving strong money for a car that's not really what you want.

The cancelled order doesn’t come with £3000 off, I think the dealer is pocketing that!

With the fuel price heading ever upwards don't rely on strong residual value in 24 months.. Buy with your heart and not your head it will be less painful in the long termMac150 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 8:57 pmIt’s not disheartening, hence why I am considering buying what I’ve been offered with a 8 week leadtime.Makanik wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 8:38 pm

Yes a new factory order will definately be more expensive. The demo or S will be MY22 so should be at MY22 prices. New factory order will be a MY23 car which means a higher list price. There's already a thread discussing the price increase.
Our GTS that we collected in April if we were to order now would be nearly £4k more.
