Was having a great day yesterday until a 21 year old lad reversed his BMW 3 series into my rear passenger door. This was bad enough but I'm in France!! Anyway he's accepted liability and the necessary info has been given to my Insurers NFU Mutual. Does anyone know whether NFU use their own Bodyshops or do they let the insured decide where to have the repair done?

Isn’t there a law that you are allowed to specify your own approved body shop outside of the insurers preferred?

Sometimes insurers allow you to take your car to your chosen repairer, but at the cost of a higher excess payment.

NFU will be paying and then they will try to reclaim from the other drivers insurance.PorscheMack wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 3:05 pm Well as the Clown who drove into me insurance will be paying not sure NFU will be too bothered.

Shouldn't need to try too hard I hope as he's admitted liability.MCDK wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 3:54 pmNFU will be paying and then they will try to reclaim from the other drivers insurance.PorscheMack wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 3:05 pm Well as the Clown who drove into me insurance will be paying not sure NFU will be too bothered.

I hope it works out for you but history is full of cases where someone has admitted liability at the scene but subsequently recanted. I assume the other guy is French which might add further complications. To answer your original question, you should get in touch with NFU and find out their policy on specifying repairers if they have one.
