No idea but i would be gentle with it. The boost is amazingly responsive, overtaking on top of the Massif Central flicked the needle over well.

Presumably you are actually referring to boost pressure which some have picked up on rather than the literal 'turbo' meaning ...

Well if they did my OPC SE didn't say anything as a he said the engines are run in enough at the factory pre-deilivery

No. How would they be able to do that?
Over the air? No way.
At the OPC? There's no 1000 mile check / oil change etc.

As stated by Nuclear Nick (recently and on other occasions) engines are not ‘run in’ at the factory, or bench tested. The max that the engines do pre-delivery are the 10-15 miles or so that are generally ‘on the clock’ when we collect our new cars. :geek:

I agree.

Additionally, how mechanically would that work? The turbo is connected to the exhaust valves and just spins up as exhausts travel through. You'd have to stop the engine from revving over like....3k or something for 1000 miles which would be very obvious but also potentially dangerous if you're trying to join a motorway and you've only got 3k revs!

Edit: Just remembered the wastegate exists. I guess you could map this to open earlier or partially, but that seems like a long winded thing to do for like... 1% of the cars lifetime.

It would be very easy for a software engineer to do that with modern ECU’s. On my track car the power is reduce until the oil temp gets up.

But I haven’t noticed any difference in power in my GTS since I picked it up in March, just clocked up 7000 miles on it today 😀

It would be very easy for a manufacturer to limit performance via less turbo boost, fuelling or mapping changes during the running period. The fact that they don’t, as far as I’m aware, speaks volumes for what is actually required to run a modern engine in.
