Is the new Porsche Macan T now the sweet spot in the range?

In the article the reviewer states:-

EA888’s forever-flat torque curve, as always, means it picks up and goes pretty much whenever you need it to.

Maybe because the torque is a bit too evenly distributed, though, because it never feels that exciting or very quick from behind the wheel.

And nor does it sound that great. All you get to savour is a four-cylinder, gravelly rasp at full chat. It’s perfectly pleasant but, equally, a little bit dull.

So you should chuck another £1,000 at the problem. Go for the much quicker, much fruitier-sounding and, from my last experience of one, very much more playful Macan S.

So he does put in characteristics in the report that question the validity of the term Sweet Spot being applied to the T.

The latter comment by him above sums up what many of us have been banging on about.

GTS style suspension and some specific included Bling does not make the T an exciting Macan to drive.

Maybe as per Wingco’s 911 T, add on ones own bits and get the power upped and maybe it will deliver enjoyment, or one could buy a Macan S and be guaranteed to have an ear to ear smile every time it is driven safely yet with vigour through the Twisties.

Trouble is, the S has a flat torque curve too.

Tbh, I don't know why manufacturers do this, it takes away a bit of surge and therefore some of the feeling during acceleration.

I propose that the meaningless term "SWEET SPOT" be banned from the forum. It can only be judged in a subjective way and we all use our own terms of reference. I'll be buying a car that meets that description for ME.

Only if we also ban the slagging off of the 2.0 and T models. ;) :P :D

Couldn’t agree more Neil, I have a T on order to replace my 5year old SD. I test drove both a base and an S. At the time of order was told by two different OPCs the wait for an S was best part of a year but I could get a T much sooner. As it is and all being well my T should be here in a little over 5 months from deposit. Although I have found on occasion myself thinking I should have waited for an S, I’m comfortable with my decision that the T is right for me for the motoring I do.
Ok not one of the mainstream motoring reviews but still worth a read -https://blog.dupontregistry.com/reviews ... &fs=e&s=cl

That was a very interesting read. But from what I’m seeing here it’s a bit like lighting the touch paper and retiring 🤣🤣

What is the spec of your T ?

I’m looking at changing mine to this http://www.porsche-code.com/PPFARUG0
But not sure I want the Porsche logos from the door. Or maybe get rid of lane change assist. But if using ACC on a motorway LCA helps make it semi autonomous- or we’ll it does in my Volvo.
Then if I dump the 8 ways and get 16 ways it’s the same seat but more adjustable. Gives me memory (save 280). Therefore costs £900. Then if I dump the pebble and black and go for ordinary black it changes to leather automatically at no cost. Saves 1400.
Sometimes you’ve got to love Japanese & Korean cars when all you have to chose is colours. 😎🤣

Some interesting points of view in that review. :)

At the end of the day, hopefully we can all agree on one phrase that was written here:

‘...there are no wrong choices in the Macan range.’

They may get dumped for you the way things are going. Electric steering column, Bose and now 911 Turbo Design wheels have been rationed/withdrawn. I hear that PDLS+ has been removed from other Porsche models too.

I'm checking my Porsche code daily to see if anythings been pulled/repriced.

Here’s my spec Crockers, have also spec’d Bose but configurator won’t show it anymore, just hoping it’s included when car arrives.
