Hello all,
It's coming to the end of my Macan's deal and it's time to look at options. I've loved the Macan S. It's been an amazing blend of performance combined with real world practicality. However, I think the one fly in the ointment is the servicing costs. At over £500 for an oil change and £1900 for brake discs and pads, it's just not worth contemplating. That puts a new Macan out of the window, so I have the options of buying something from a different brand or buying my car and using independent garages for servicing.
What experiences have people had with this approach? Has it drastically affected the resale value (warranty expired now btw)?
I'd prefer somewhere that used original Porsche parts. Does anyone have recommendations for the Worcestershire/Gloucestershire area?
Cheers!
Independent garages or not?
I think a lot depends on where you live and whether there is a good independent regularly dealing with Macan. eg like Cridfords in Surrey. some independents only see the sportcars.
Having said that if you really like the car and intend keeping it along time, then condition is the major impact on value and the hit compared with something only OPC serviced will be small

I used them once with my old 987, they changed all four lambda probes and charged more than quoted due to taking longer than expected.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 5:56 pm These guys are worth a try:

I used Northway in Aldermaston for servicing and never had an issue with them over ten years. I took my macan SD there last year too. Bit of a trek from s..wales but I use it as a day out to do some shopping . Saves about 45% over OPC prices
Two thoughts.
First if you choose to have extended warranty then I think you are stuck with Porsche servicing
Second, and a halfway house I've done in the past. Get the service stamps from Porsche and anything else (eg brakes) from an indy. I did this with Audi and as I had had the car serviced with them got 60% off a new gearbox on a 6 year old car

This is a good move, as long as you find a good indy.
