On both our cars we currently have Nextbase 622GW. When talking to the OPC SE he said Porsche offer a Dashcam but supply and fit is £800 ish. If we fit out Nextbase system it might invalidate the warranty.

Upon looking at the “Porsche “ dash camera it looks the same (albeit) different branding to the VW and Audi. The VW is a lot cheaper.

My understanding of warranty is that they would have to prove the dahcam caused the issue. But then I’m not a liability lawyer.

Is this usual OPC talk to extract money?
Is the Porsche (front only) that good to warranty the massive cost. I gather a lot of the wiring is in situ.

Ignore the dire warning about invalidating the warranty! That's merely a way of trying to charge you an insane amount of money for a Porsche-branded dashcam. Fitting a dashcam doesn't in any way interfere with the car's systems. I fitted a Nextbase 422GW myself, using the Nextbase hardwiring kit, and it couldn't have been quicker or easier. My car has been serviced since I fitted the dashcam, and nothing was said.

In fitting yourself where did you power it from?

From the fuse panel on the passenger side of the dash. The Nextbase hardwiring kit includes a neat piggyback fuse. The wire is quite slim, and can easily be tucked out of sight behind the headliner, then down the A-pillar trim, then into the fuse panel area.

Looks really neat and great that no wires have to be spliced into.

Do they tell you to use a particular fuse?

The fuses are listed in the car's handbook. You just need to choose a fuse which is live when the ignition is switched on.

I too have a Nextbase fitted. Took it out of the previous car and, as mentioned above, it's a straight forward install to a spare fuse on the panel so doesn't interfere with anything.

Car has been into OPC since and no mention was made about it.
