There’s a lot of really good info and helpful people on this forum however most people take Col Lamb rants against 2l with a pinch of salt. All Macans are great cars refined by Porche over other VAG products no matter which engine you go for…. Personally I can’t see why people pay the premium for the GTS…clearly the S is far better all round….
+1 on all fronts. Any thread that mentions a 2.0 or T will at some point get the “Col Treatment”.

Unless people want this forum to die on its arse then I wouldn't be offering divisive views on 2.0 vs 2.9. People are capable of taking test drives and finding out for themselves what suits.
A 2.0T as a courtesy car for a satnav upgrade is a good result in my book!
+2.

I had a M240 and an evoque lately but have had a variety of different cars through the years, the 3 litre bmw was very fast but there is no place to use that power unless your going to track your car the 2litre Macan has plenty of power for daily use that’s the reason I bought one. Cheers

Is the 2.0l engine in the 718 VW too or is that a Porsche unit??
All engines in VWs, Audis, Skodas, Porsche and Seats are VAG group units but the engine in the 718 series are only currently found in Porsches.
VAG Group shares its intellectual capital across all companies and transfers engineers between subsidiaries
Could perhaps qualify this by generation for the Macan. In 2017 when I did the factory tour at Zuffenhausen they were assembling all Porsche petrol engines for the full range of cars at that time. Audi engines replaced the Porsche V6 from Macan II on? Still VAG of course.

Our Macan is basically a Tuned By Porsche Q5 and is was from a Q5 of 2011ish vintage.
If all you want is a Porsche badge then there is nothing wrong with getting a 2.0 as any Macan looks the same as any other, more or less, when parked in the Supermarket Car Park or outside the school.
So basically - as I read your post - is a base or T is just for someone “pretending “ and “posing” as a Porsche owner. Not a real one. Never read such bigoted shite. Not since hearing KKs budget soeech.
Yep.
Sad that you have taken to direct insulting.
Enjoy your 2.0 litre and I am sure it will meet your expectations however high or low they may be.
One thing for sure if anyone here posts about buying a base or T then I will council against it until such times as Porsche give these lower priced variants an engine with the power and torque that a Macan deserves.

I have to agree. I had a 2.0 base loaner for about 100 miles and was astonished at how hard the thing had to work to make any sort of progress. OK perhaps for a school run or local supermarket trip, but not open roads. It was rather unrefined, especially compared with the effortless performance of the 3.0 models.

As a newcomer to the brand, I really don't get it. It is a car and whether you have a diesel, 4-cyl or 6-cyl it is a choice that I hope people make after test driving. Its like saying if you live and drive in London you shouldn't have one because you can't drive it as it deserves.
Encourage people to test drive both 2.0 and 2.9 by all means but I wouldn't question their choices once they have done so.
