Only 7 cars in 31 years for me...

1993: Ford Cortina - a 1981 model bought off a neighbour for £100 when learning to drive
1994: Ford Escort 1.6i Ghia - velour seats no less... I was going up in the world!
1996: Toyota MR2 Mk1 - 1988 model - lovely car but slippery when wet!
1997: Honda CRX VTEC Mk2 - 1991 model in Celestial Blue. I adored this car. Was like a motorbike on 4 wheels. Some of my greatest driving memories are in this one. Regret ever selling it.
2003: Subaru Impreza Turbo - 2000 model, classic shape in silver with a rare two tone grey leather interior and anthracite Prodrive wheels. Had always hankered after one since Colin McRae days... it didn't disappoint!
2006: E46 BMW 330ci Sport Convertible - 2003 facelift model in individual messing metallic. Had it for 17.5 years now and can't see me ever parting with it. Only the second owner from new. Adore it.
2023: Porsche Macan GTS Gen1 - 2016 model in night blue metallic and a long options list. My first 'new' car in 17 years! Bought it in August and really must update my original thread on here from when thinking of buying it with pics!!

1968 Triumph 1300TC (first car)
1977 Allegro 1300 - urgh
1978 Mini 1000
1973 Dolomite Sprint - great car
1982 Fiat Panda - not great at all
1979 Dolomite Sprint
1985 Mini 1000
1993 Fiat Cinqucento (fist new car) - not as bad as you might think in its day, especially with he Trofeo pack
1991 Nissan Primera eZX - very good better than anything equivalent at the time
1990 Saab 900 T16S - I miss this one
1982 Porsche 924
1968 Mini Cooper 1275 S - Old English White/Black roof
1990 Porsche 944S2 - beautiful balance
1997 Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo - fast but flawed (company car whilst waiting for the arrival of the Honda)
1998 Honda Integra Type R - noisy fun company car (74K miles in 18 months)
1998 Peugeot 406 V6 Coupe - what was I thnking
1999 Peugeot 306 GTi-6 - a very good hot hatch
1999 Audi A6 2.7 Quattro - dull, wallowy boat
2003 Honda S2000 (fantastic) + 2004 VW Golf 2.0 TDI Sport (worthy)
1994 Caterham 7 1.4 SuperSport (made a profit on this one)
2004 Jaguar S-Type R (grunt and supercharger whine)
2008 VW Golf V GTI Edition 30 (very good, if a little lacking in excitement barely lost any money on it)
2009 BMW 123d M-Sport (bettere than you might think... same power output as a Sierra Cosworth and more torque)
2004 Porsche 911 C4S Cabriolet (Fabulous, should never have sold it but the following tempted me)
2009 Jaguar XKR Convertible (fast, great noise, comfortable)
2013 Golf VII GTD (company car - good at everything but a little dull)
2017 BMW 330e M-Sport (company car)
2009 Audi RS6 Avant V10 (great noise withthe aftermarket exhaust... made the house shake... when I traded it in for the Macan Turbo, the Porsche salesman told me to be careful on the test drive because the Macan is quick... he'd seen me step out of the almost 600hp RS6...)
2021 Toyota GR Yaris Circuit Pak (sold after 2 years - like a limpet but, for me, awful driving position) + 2017 Macan Turbo (which I respect, but I don't love it for some reason)
2017 Mini Hatch JCW Challenge Edition (1 of 53) on Cup 2 tyres, on the lanes around here in the summer it is just grips + the same 2017 Macan Turbo

Wing Commander wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 3:54 pm Good to see a Golf GTi in both of the above lists! I also owned a GTi (Mark II) and loved it (three door in dark metallic blue) only selling it when I got my first company car. The recent Golf GTi models just don’t have the same appeal, in my eyes.
My insurer raised an eyebrow when I went from an 850 Mini to a 1.6 GTi!!!
