Seat Stitching Issue

I'm looking for some advice here.

Noticed that at the back, bottom of the drivers seat in the rear passenger footwell, the stitching has failed and the under leather has come away from the seat back....



This is particularly troubling as I've only had the car 3 months and only done 2.500 miles. Of which I have had a person sat in the rear behind me no more than a handful of occasions. In my mind it hasn't failed through any kind of wear and tear and is clearly some sort of faulty attachment? Unsure on how it would really be fixed too.

What do people think is the best course of action?

In my mind I would take it my local OPC (Swindon) but wanted opinions before I do that. Or is it best to contact them via say email first?

Car won't be due to them for a service or oil change for the best part of a year so don't really want to wait that long.

Appreciate thoughts.

I would give the car a very good clean in that area as from the pic it doesn’t look that great and may imply that somebody had “run” their feet along the bottom of the seat. I am not saying they have and the stitching still shouldn’t fail but the area does look a bit grubby. Once It’s nice and clean and carpet hoovered I would send your OPC a pic and ask them to comment.

I'm sure they'll be able to fix this. My OPC said they have a specialist that they use when brand new cars come in with little issues in the interior trim, eg. dashboards etc. If not then it's a new seat/covering under warranty

Car was bought new.

Yeh - can give it a clean, but use has been minimal. Plus I would expect it to hold up to normal use longer than this.

Will drop them a mail post clean and go from there. Hopefully no funny business.

I think that the plastic strip you can see just clips onto a channel at the bottom of the seat back, have you tried reclipping it ? Push the flap back up and try an clip it back.

I will have a fiddle, but looked like it was a stitching thing rather than a clip.

If the stitching has failed and there is no sign of any damage being inflicted upon the area, ( e.g big boot marks ) its failed under new car warranty, they should just fix it. Not yet had any issues with warranty claims at DL Swindon in over 15 years.

Looking at the marks either side of the flap it should be an interesting conversation at the OPC.
