So, on a £100k car, there's £5k to the bottom line. On a £1k service, there's £50 to the bottom line.
We all like the lovely showrooms, the free tea and coffee, the loan cars, the attentive staff, the EV charges, the videos of our cars being serviced....but by golly, it costs a lot!
Probably not a uniform 5% on all takings, Neil. ;)

I suspect a 911 Turbo S might make more profit as a percentage, compared to a base Macan or base 718 with little to no options.

And some of their servicing & services have a pretty high profit margin I reckon, looking at things like the cost of wheel/tyre storage and the hourly labour rates in their service departments.

And yes, it’s got to be many millions to build and run an OPC, with all that shiny plate glass and the armies of staff.

Cheers,
Simon

Losing £6k in 18 months is fantastic TBH. Wasn't so long ago you'd lose 20-30% just driving out of the dealership.
Don't forget the £2k+ OTR cost on new cars which owners seem to dismiss when using their Manculator. I know part is for a RFL but it's still a cost to the 1st owner.
Good point Mack I didn’t include that in the calcs 😳
That's fine, Jon,
I'm pretty strict on myself when it comes to Depreciation and include the exact cost to my Bank account when purchasing a car 😊 TBH even though I've placed a deposit on another GTS, unless I can get £65k-ish on my current one around February next then the deals off. Unfortunately, I'll have to make this decision around early January as that's probably when Build Date commitment on my part will be required. At this moment in time I'm not overly confident. But keeping my current car for another year or so wouldn't be too bad. I might just keep my deposit rolling until Porsche announce the death of the ICE Macan and get one from the last production period. Let's see how it goes 👍

Jon. Is that what you found when you traded in your S? Some pretty good used prices atm. Don't think the T is holding up too well but my SE said he's finding Ts holding value better than Ss. But nothing is as good as a GTS for holding prices.
I eventually took £63k on mine having paid £69k originally. It was 18months old and 12k miles.
I might have got £66k privately (?) but it had finance attached and I was chipping in for another Porsche so was just easier. They have it up for £70k but I expect it to go for circa £68k maybe 🤔
OPC will always want their margin, and of course will be sticking on a two year warranty and most folks will only buy a car at this price from dealer…

If anybody says that is because of the Vat ….

Stick you reg into WBAC - sit back and either laugh or cry. Certainly not a nice figure.

Oh and Porsches devalue less than most cars 🤣

Bet I'm not the only one who has done that after reading your post

Shocking price, but didn't Macans lose 40% after 3 years anyway? Pre-2020.

If the car is a keeper (as many on here have indicated) then any short or even medium term depreciation is pretty irrelevant.

I’d like to have a look into the crystal ball to know if a well maintained and (currently) desirable car will be worth scrap or a mint in 10-15 years time as that would influence my current car owning strategy.

I sold my 2017 SD back to the supplying dealer for 65% of what I paid for it in June 2020. After 37 months, and during the early Covid shut down period, I was satisfied with that. I also had their £1k loyalty bonus to use against my new GTS.
