What make and pattern are you running now - front and rear? Do you require summer, all-season or winter pattern?

If summer pattern, then Michelin Latitude Sport 3 or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV are both good all round options. (Other makes are available!).

Ideally you want to have the same make & pattern, in Porsche approved N-rated, on all four wheels for the best handling and braking performance.

Just looking at new tyres myself - the Porsche approved 'N' rated tyres that I can find are (there may well be others):

Continental Sport Contact 5P SUV
Yokohama Advan Sport V105T
Michelin Latitude Sport 3
Pirelli P Zero

The Michelin and Pirelli both appear to have been superseded, by the Pilot Sport 4 SUV and the P Zero 4, which I assume are improved versions. But neither are available as 'N' rated, which is very annoying if you have a warranty, as most dealers get very agitated if you mention non-N tyres!

Does anyone know what the physical differences are between an N tyre and exactly the same tyre in size, speed and load rating?

Apart from the fact that one has N on the sidewall and non N doesn't :D

Full of marketing hype. If N rated tyres are so special and only suit a Porsche why are they not twice the price of the equivalent non N. Why doesn't a Porsche fail it's MOT with non N. How come the same N rated tyre can be fitted to any Macan from base to GTS?

FUD is still alive and the marketing tool of choice.

I went to a talk by a Pirelli tyre technician that was organised by PCGB for members where we were shown cross sections of the tyre construction of N rated & non N rated tyres, and there was a massive difference in the stiffness / construction of tyres sidewalls etc. The technician said the N rated tyres were built by Pirelli to Porsche specification then exhaustively tested until correct spec approved by both parties.
