Good morning, I was in a VW showroom with my daughter yesterday looking at a new Golf R. During my conversations with the SE he informed me that VW are putting their prices up by approximately 3% in early October. I asked if this increase would be across the VAG group, he confirmed it would include Skoda and Seat but he was not sure about Porsche.
The last increase in March was about 3% on list price and 6% on options. Is it likely that the greedy people at VAG are about to hit me with another price hike?

Until you actually lockdown your order any price increase is valid, that’s just a normal practice.

As I remember last Porsche increase was 4% on list and 10% on options. Lead times have reduced quite a bit, I would surmise a further increase will reduce lead times even further.

Yeah, but 2 increases in 1 year! It was fine for me cause I wanted my car, but if I were buying a new Macan to replace an existing one and they tried this, then I'd just cancel.

It’s normal practise for Porsche, but not for most other manufacturers. The SE at VW confirmed that we would not be hit with the increase if we ordered the Golf before the October increase. I have reluctantly absorbed the March price increase but I will be walking away if Porsche increase any further. I am not going to subsidise the losses they are making on EV’s.

I read somewhere that Porsche prices to increase between 5% and 8% on October 1. Not sure how reliable this info is though ! This is getting really silly - increase prices and then offer discounts ( deposit contribution) a la Taycan. Is this “clever” marketing to amke it look as if people are getting a good deal ? Doesn’t work for me !

I received an email from Edinburgh offering me a £5000 dealer contribution if I took a 4 year finance deal at just over 11%. Total madness.

If that happens, then I'll be out of the game, and won't be looking at placing an order for a Macan S.

Wow. Lucky my Macan S order was locked down this Monday. Just in time, it seems, and probably saved me £5,000 or something.
