In Autocar mag there is an article on a prototype Merc EV with 1000bhp and in the text it states that a German electric motor manufacturer has produced a motor with the characteristics as stated in the thread title.

Like it or not it does look like the EV’s of the future are going to have considerably more power and torque than even the most powerful sub hypercar ICE has.

That's never been in doubt. That's why milk floats 80 years ago used electric. The problem has always been recharge times and range. Today they can't compete with ICE. Once solid state batteries are mainstream ICE is dead. Looks like I'll be placing an order for Gen 2 Macan EV in 2028.

The power levels are just ridiculous. Who seriously needs 1000bhp in anything?

+1

I find the acceleration in the few EVs I’ve been in quite uncomfortable. It’s harsh and dangerously sudden compared to the softer progressive feel of the Macan.

With a 1000bhp the insurance companies will be getting ready to pounce 😉

When an EV starts approaching 3 tonne it will become necessary. 300bhp per tonne is the new power car norm.

If Porsche continues with its braking time to zero from sixty being 1/2 the time of the 0 > 60 sprint then us oldies are in trouble.

Under heavy braking our faces are going to slide forward in a very unflattering way.

All totally pointless, under normal driving conditions anyway, unless you want to lose your license.
