On the way back from a 400 round trip to Birminghan had a message "top up oil with not more than 1L " , current mileage 7500 but oil was checked @ 3800 and ok. What's "average" oil consumption on the 2.9l engine ?.

This is normal during running in. Usually no further topping up is needed between services.

Just been out to get some oil, car hasn't moved since Saturday, display says oil OK and no messages stored in "info" . Service indicator now only showing service due 10/2024 no mention of oil change in 07/2024 so they're now both the same date which is great.
Although it says "oil OK" the green segment was fairly low so will add 1/2 litre to be on the safe side.

My Dec 2022 Gen 3 S has a similar mileage (7800) and has never required any oil. I would maybe initially try 1/4 litre to be cautious.Scooby_Doo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 11:19 am Just been out to get some oil, car hasn't moved since Saturday, display says oil OK and no messages stored in "info" . I had to top up my S with around 3/4 litre about a month ago, car reg end July 2022. Can’t remember exact mileage but approx 9800mls. I purchased end April from OPC, so no idea if previously been topped up .

I thought I would set out my oil change and top up record of my Gen2 "audi" engine S
Of relevance is I have only topped up oil when the car has asked for one litre and that has what is has been given. Also relevant is that despite the under bonnet sticker on my 3 lit 2019 V6 saying only use C30 oil the OPC has refilled with C20 i.e 0W20. Also when picked up from a OPC service the car on the oil level indication on OPC has always shown half full sometimes less than when it went into service.
9000 miles one litre top up
14000 miles and 2 years old oil change
17000 miles one litre top up
33500 miles and 3 1/2 years old oil change
38000 miles one litre top up
Current mileage at 4.5 years old 42500

Very similar story to pmg for my first S:
01/04/2020 Oil Top up Me 1ltr @ 8,984
24/02/2021 Oil change OPC Sheffield @ 15,110
05/10/2021 Oil Top up Me 1ltr @ 22,250
08/06/2022 Oil change OPC Sheffield @ 30,825
17/12/2022 Oil Top up Me 1ltr @ 38,091
03/03/2023 Sold @ 39,235 miles
I'm reasonably sure that the oil top up warning appeared and disappeared for me too. I didn't put any in until it came on and stayed on about a 1,000 miles later.
As an afterthought, I'm now up to 10,428 on the Gen3 and no oil requested as yet!
