My OPC 'put in writing" I could have grilles by granting the extended warranty. When they refused another extension 2yrs later, PGB were the official arbitrator and said "no you can't."
Thanks for the heads up. My OPC is Reading, owned by PGB, but I will make sure that I get a clear response.

We already have grills on my wifeโ€™s Boxster so I need to get clarity for her car as well as helping my decision on whether to purchase side grills for the Macan
Current fleet:
2023 Macan GTS
2018 BMW M6 GC
2023 Boxster GTS

Departed:
2017 Macan Turbo

I understand the issue is that the grills restrict airflow to the radiators (which they must), and that can lead to all sorts of problems- allegedly ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Or a great way to engineer expensive intercooler damage that wonโ€™t be covered under warranty ๐Ÿ˜‰

Before I fitted the grilles I had asked another OPC service dept, who said it was a great idea, wouldn't affect airflow or warranty, and they wished Porsche would fit them as original equipment. I checked with OPC Leicester who said no problem, so I later fitted the grilles, took the car in for the extended warranty to be applied, no issues whatsoever at that point in 2017.

I'd gone to the first OPC with a leaf stuck in the side intake which was creating a machine gun noise as the fan attacked it. They retrieved the leaf and so I fitted the side grilles too.

After all the grilles were fitted I passed a lumber truck on the motorway. A lump of tree fell off, some of it bumped under my 981, and when home a wood stake around 5" long was stuck point first in a front air intake grille. I pulled it out, no damage done to the car or grille.

After all that, both condensers failed, one in in 2019, the other in 2023.

Here's one of the rads before the grilles were fitted at around 15k miles...

BTW, Porsche themselves fit grills to the GT3's which rather rules out their airflow reasoning ;)

Too right. Weโ€™re all suckers really ๐Ÿ˜‚

I was talking to someone today who had already purchased 8 Porsches including a GT4 purely to get into the GT3 list and they refused his application!! Needless to say he no longer drives a Porsche ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was at my PPF Installer recently and they had just completed a GT3 RS. Took a look at the factory front and of course Porsche themselves fit these ๐Ÿคจ
