Hi all,
Having just joined the forum I'm seeking views on what fuel fellow Macan owners use at the pumps? Having previously owned a couple of Boxsters (S), I tended to put in roughly one tank full of Super Unleaded (97/98 RON) for every 3 of normal Unleaded (95 RON). I've now taken delivery of a Macan Turbo (2017 Porsche Approved) and wondered what type of fuel and ratio (if at all) is recommended.
Many thanks in advance.
Dick
Type Of Fuel Query
As far as "recommended" is concerned, on the fuel flap it shows 98, and I believe all performance & consumption data is based on using 98.
I've had a Gen 1 Turbo and now have a Gen 2 GTS. I've only ever used "Super" (Depending on petrol company that's anything from 97 up).
When buying a Porsche and paying so much for the privilege I can't get my head around scrimping on fuel. It's like building a wine cellar and filling it with Blue Nun.
On a 75l tank the cost difference in filling up is about £6 to £7. Negligeable compared to the other costs associated with owning & maintaining the car.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Over the years there have been a number of threads about the "right" fuel. The inside of your fuel filler flap will give you Porsche's recommendations for your car. In the three years I've had my GTS I've only ever used 98 RON fuel. Mainly Esso Supreme but also Shell V Power when Esso is not available. I prefer Esso because in most parts of the country it is still bioethanol free.
Other opinions may vary

I am another Esso Supreme user especially after PCGB Esso card discount. When not available I have used Tesco Momentum. I have found both those give me better mpg than Shell V power, I suspect due to lower actual ethanol content.

This really is simple and I thought been answered many times on here. I have also given in great detail an explanation of fuel filling stations in the UK given its the area of work albeit electrical I specialise in.
Look at the filler cap, and if it says 98Ron unleaded thats what the manufacturer dictates you should use, there may be and I know it does on my MY2022 a 95Ron indication. So I always try and buy the 98Ron or higher value fuel if I can but one tankful of 95Ron fuel if higher Ron fuel is not availible on my travels wont be a big issue.
Its what the manufacturer reccomended and as others have said its not a huge cost diffrence.
Cheers GTB.
Mind you for those with Electric cars only one grade availible albeit costs per KwH may vary from the supplier!!!

Not the case now, sadly. Since September Esso were forced to comply with govt mandate and so Supreme 99 now contains 'up to 5%' ethanol everywhere.
