:D :D :D Started to test drive to see if it’s a car for me…
Going to try the straight 4 and the V6.
Portsmouth and Guildford Centres are my closest.
Already configured a few options 😂
Also considering nearly new. There’s a few about.

Crayon with a few add ons. All constructive comments gratefully received.

Welcome.

First thing to do is decide wether you prefer the 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder engine. Make sure that you tale a long test drive in both, not just around the block. Make a note of whether they have PASM and / or Air Suspension and the wheel size. The combination of these affects the ride and handling. The great thing [or buggeration!] with Porsche is that you can fine tune it to your individual preference.

You do not say what you are driving now, but give yourself time to adjust to the Macan.

Once that's decided, come back with you spec proposal.

Welcome. Agree settle on an engine first it’s by far the biggest differentiator.
Also for the sake of £250 put memory package on your seats if sticking with the 8 way, even if you will be the only driver 👍

Thanks!
Currently in a 2011 4.4 TDV8 L322 Range Rover.
I plan to test drive both engines 👍
Thanks for the other advice. Note book in hand for todays test drive 😂

Hi and welcome to the forum.

My advice would be even stronger than Steve's. Don't buy a Macan without PASM. The active suspension transforms the ride and handling. This option is available either separately or as part of the air suspension option.

Only consider the T if you're absolutely convinced the 2L engine is for you. The extra £3k for the S is much better value for money.

In addition to Jon's advice (every time you leave the car with an OPC it will be driven by the Incredible Hulk or one of Snow White's little helpers and you will take ages getting the seat back to how you like it), just bear in mind that if you go for a test drive in a dealer demonstrator it will almost certainly have either 14way or 18way seats which feel different to the standard 8way seats. I'm not going to get into the argument about which of the three seat options is best.

For the reasons Peter states above, plus when you hoover the interior you will need to move the seats, plus it’s a minimum expected option on a car at this price point 👍

Interesting spec on the S - it's tempting to keep it around £65k, makes it feel much better value for money - but I'd suggest you'll be much happier in the long run adding a few extra pieces of technology - the kind, that, frustratingly come as standard on many cheaper marques.

- Blind spot monitoring is handy in the Macan as it has quite a chunky rear quarter
- Many swear off cruise control systems - but I find the ACC incredibly handy for longer drives. It also comes with the emergency braking system which can be handy to save yourself a scrape should the worst happen.

I'd echo the comments around PASM. Bit of a cheek this isn't just standard spec on a car this size and design but welcome to Porsche. The dampener system in PASM particularly is excellent and is part of what gives the Macan that 'sportier than the others' feel.

Finally - quite decisive - but some who go for the S but don't spec the sports exhaust (PSE) system have regretted it. I know one who has retrofitted the sports system at quite a large cost. Many on here will say the standard exhaust note is plenty loud and deep. But I think if you value your exhaust sound make sure to try to listen to a car with and without the PSE.

Pigs will fly before someone coming from a 4.4l V8 lump is going to go for an engine that's less than half of that, won't they? Now, if the 2ltr 4 pot returned double the mpg that would be a factor but its not so in this debate fuel consumption is only marginal.
The S spec above seems good, despite the colour choice, my only change would be to spend money on 14 way seats rather than the leather package, that will provide the memory plus greater acreage of leather in the car (rear seats are leather too). It's how my first Macan was and now with added extended leather in this one the difference just isn't worthwhile.
